“ | I spent centuries struggling against the inevitable alien menace, and one day realized that all I had done was waste precious time and resources. So I chose a new tack: I decided the best way to protect the Earth from aliens was to make them our allies. | „ |
~ Bishop on his redemption. |
Agent John Bishop is a supporting protagonist of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2003 TV series.
He is a secret agent of the U.S. government and the head of the Earth Protection Force (E.P.F.) who plots to use the Ninja Turtles DNA to create an army of genetically enhanced super soldiers in order to create a superior race of mankind to save the Earth of alien invasion.
He was voiced by David Zen Mansley.
What Makes Him Pure Good?[]
- While he was rather villainous during the first five seasons, this no longer counts as a prevention by the time of the Fast Forward season, as he is wholly redeemed.
- Not to mention those misdeeds happened fifty years prior and is something he seems to not only regret, but tried making up for in the present.
- It’s also worth noting that a lot of his prior actions were done for altruistic reasons and stem from his past of being tortured by aliens.
- He helped the Turtles defeat Tengu Shredder who sought to turn the world into a hellish landscape.
- While he did make a partnership with General Blanque, this was to help stop the Triceraton invasion.
- Helped the Turtles undo the mutant outbreak and was the one that had his men spread the cure across the city.
- Upon his redemption, he created the Pan Galactic Alliance, which makes him responsible for aliens and mutants (like the Turtles) living peacefully amongst humans and forms an alliance with other aliens to help bring peace on a galactic scale.
- He has the Turtles stop an intergalactic mercenary by the name of Torbin Zixx, due to being unable to intervene, congratulating them for stopping a bomb from killing dozens of civilians in the ending of the episode.
- He played a part in stopping Sh’Okanabo’s conquest on Earth with him even developing the light bombs that was used to defeat him.
- When he found out Stockman was still alive, he was willing to risk his life to save him despite the fact that he tried getting revenge on him. Bishop agrees to create a viable body for him and allows him to work at the Department of Agriculture.
Trivia[]
- He, Leonardo (TMNT 2003), Fugitoid (TMNT 2003), and Michelangelo (TMNT 2012) are also the only Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles characters to be Pure Good so far.
- He is one of several Pure Goods to also be Inconsistently Heinous, the others being Oliver Grayson, Mika Misono, The Collector, Twilight Sparkle (Equestria Girls), and Philomela Sargant.
