Akari Hoshizaki is the main protagonist and a playable character from Sega's rhythm game series O.N.G.E.K.I.. She is a second-year high school student of Kanadezaka Academy. After witnessing a certain Shooter that she admired perform in Budokan along with the other team members of Asterism, she, together with them, rose among the ranks to become the school's most powerful shooters, longing to become the next Ongeki Primera.
She is voiced and portrayed in live action at concerts by Hikaru Akao.
What Makes Her Pure Good?[]
- Throughout the story, she mainly chooses reason over fighting except when forced to do otherwise, always trying to hear out what others have been through in case something wrong led to them being like that, going to the point where Setsuna even shows some respect to Akari, for her strong interest in Ongeki.
- She manages to earn the respect of each of the other shooter units and even the two other RBP members in the trial that Arisu set up to train Asterism for the Shooter Fest and protect the academy from Setsuna. Befriending Triedge would be detrimental to Setsuna’s campaign as she would stand up for her when Setsuna tries to demonstrate negative Ongeki on her as only they would remind Triedge that it is not all about winning.
- She and the rest of Asterism lend their moral support to the Marching Pockets, taking note of Chinatsu’s admiration of Akari. This would be put to their advantage the following chapter as the Marching Pockets were able to turn on their master Setsuna acknowledging Akari and her friends, giving them enough cheers to force her to leave for the president’s office.
- She stops Setsuna from trying to overthrow Arisu from her presidential position in Kanazaka for wanting to rule the school with oppressive rules to strengthen its students and take advantage of their bad emotions using negative Ongeki. After unsuccessfully trying to defeat her once Setsuna makes her a personal opponent, Akari herself was able to defeat Setsuna and force her to surrender with the encouragement of her friends and the Marching Pockets.
- After the Marching Pockets charge Akari’s Ongeki and force their master Setsuna to leave the election hall for the president’s office by sharing their cheer with Asterism, she consoles Bitter Flavor and 7evendays Holidays sorting out their problems while revealing that Setsuna threatened them and gave them the orders to fight Asterism to try to bring about bad emotions in them and Asterism.
- While she eventually got angry at Setsuna for her trying to set up oppressive rules which go against the principles of Ongeki being for fun competition and threatening her friends, which Setsuna tries to utilise to attempt to corrupt her with the negative emotions, she managed to overcome it with the help of Triedge, 7evendays, Bitter Flavor and even the Marching Pockets who recognise her and Asterism’s efforts.

- She is one of two O.N.G.E.K.I. heroes to be Pure Good, alongside Arisu Suzushima.
