Akitaru Ōbi is a major supporting protagonist in the anime/manga series Fire Force. He is the founder of Tokyo's Special Fire Force Company 8, which makes him the captain of the Company. While being powerless, he still has hysterical strength and is able to take down Infernals. He wants to learn the truth about the cause of Spontaneous Human Combustion and save the world.
His Japanese Voice Actor is Kazuya Nakai, and his English Voice Actor being Jeremy Inman.
What Makes Him Pure Good?[]
- Despite being powerless and lacking Ignition Ability, he is a very selfless courageous person who saved many innocent lives from Infernals. He also has a very strong sense of justice.
- Akitaru is described to be a very good-natured person, and is easily a respected captain of Company 8. Because of these good traits, when the others outside of Company 8 notice his good traits.
- Shinra thinks that he is a kind and humble person that would question if he ever gotten angry.
- Hibana, the captain of the Tokyo's Special Fire Force Company 5, mentioned that he has a great sense of justice.
- The Anti-Heroic criminal Joker even notices that Akitaru is a model firefighter who places his live own life to protect others.
- Though he may be the captain of Company 8, he still views that cleansing Infernals is an act of murder, believing that you should always consider the feelings of the people close to the victims and end their suffering as soon as possible.
- He tells Shinra that he will try to investigate the other Companies so he can learn the truth of the cause of the Infernals and save lives.
- In a flashback, while being a firefighter at the time, he decides to help a woman put her husband to rest since the Fire Force didn't seem to care about the suffering of the survivors of Infernals felt. He was later confronted by Hinawa, making the both of them put the Infernal to rest. Akitaru decides that he will create a Company of his own, saying that he will fight to end Spontaneous Human Combustion because he refuses to watch the world burn down.
- In the first scene in the anime, he, with the rest with his Comapny, take down an Infernal.
- He was willing to risk his own life to protect the memento of Mikako's family picture and deliver to her safely.
- After the Rookie Games were over, Arthur is seen falling for his death. Akitaru, Hinawa, and Maki soften his fall with a blanket.
- He helped rebuild the homes for the people in Asakusa since Benimaru pretty much damaged the town when taking down an Infernal.
- He and the rest of Company 8 go down to the Nether so they can find the ones causing Spontaneous Human Combustion and also learn the secret of it.
- He also makes a promise to Shinra that he and the rest of the Company will save his little Sho, since he's down in the Nether as well.
- He and Vulcan try to save Lisa from Giovanni since she's being manipulated by the flames she can control on her own.
- In order to save her, he tells Vulcan to shoot him to prevent Giovanni from cutting Lisa's head off. If Vulcan didn't shoot Akitaru, Giovanni said he would've cut Lisa's head off. However, Akitaru didn't die since Vulcan made him a bullet proof vest before the mission.
- He stops Haumea from attacking Shinra since he was heavily injured, and was also impaled with a sword.
- He and Company 8 later take Shinra to Kayoko Huang to save his life since he injures were so bad.
- After Tamaki got attacked by the Purple Knights, he and Gustav come to save her.
- He It is one of the most important parts in stopping the cataclysm and preventing the earth from turning into a sun.
- After being resurrected by Shinra in the new world by the end of the series, He gained new powers and became the commander of World Heroes Force,and saves people from monsters.
