The Archangel Gabriel, better known as Angel Gabby is the titular deuteragonist of the East Patch Analog Horror series Angel Hare.
She's a sentient cartoon character who help and teach children to be better people by giving them life lessons. She's considered by Jonah to be his guardian angel as she have protected him from his troubled childhood.
What Make Her Pure Good?[]
In General[]
- Unlike many other supernatural entities that are found in the Analog Horror subgenre, Angel Gabby subverts many notable traits common to said characters. Rather than an entity that actively harms others, she serves as a guardian angel for aid of others in need with her benevolent nature being shown as genuine.
- While Angel Gabby is indeed a cosmic entity who is angelic by nature, nothing indicates that she has Moral Agency Issues or is only good by nature. In fact, her generally pragmatic nature, with her presumed killing of HIM and the potential flooding of the Municipal building, throughout the series proves the opposite as it indicates that Gabby is capable of bad deeds but still chooses to remain on the side of good.
- Despite being fairly serious, she never outright darkens the mood of the story. Even though some of Gabby's moments can come off as unsettling and even somewhat creepy, this is mainly due to misdirection from the Creators rather than any darker aspects from Gabby's own character. In fact, she's portrayed as a beacon of hope against HIM, the actual Game Changer of the show. Furthermore, newer seasons completely drop these moments.
- Even though Gabby can be notably strict at times to those around her, this doesn't make her rude or a jerk since she only shows annoyance at worst and never tries to insult or demean anyone. Instead, her being strict was done out of a desire to ensure that she can continue to guide others on the right path, making them warranted when considering the context. Additionally, future seasons show Gabby completely dropping this due to the situation being much better.
- Despite being notably pragmatic on certain occasions which is displayed by how ruthless she can be at times, this doesn't make Gabby an morally ambiguous or even an extremist since her pragmatic actions are generally done as a last resort with no indication that she enjoys any of them.
Background[]
- When she finds out that Jonah, who was six-years-old at the time, was a victim to an abusive father, she does everything she can to ensure his well-being, acting as a sort of parental substitute towards him.
- While she does seem to express hatred and contempt for Jonah's father, and seemed to be responsible for his disappearance, this is justified by the fact that said father is shown to be highly abusive and neglectful towards Jonah. Said father is also implied to be very dangerous, as it was implied that he was going to use a firearm to harm someone.
- When Jonah's father leaves an unidentified firearm behind in Jonah's prescence, Gabby aids Jonah by instructing him to take the firearm apart safely, and hide it behind a bookshelf so that no one can use it for harm.
- Despite sometimes being stern to him, she is shown to be a good friend to Francis, as Francis talks a few times about how meeting with her was for the better in a few Q&A sessions, helping him during some of his darkest times.
- Though it is implied that she might have had something to do with the flood that was mentioned in Tape 4, nothing indicates that this endangered anyone, as the flood only seemed to affect the municipal building specifically. She also stated in the previous tape that she hoped she wouldn't have to rely on "drawing a weapon", indicating that this was likely a last resort, and wouldn't harm others unless it's absolutely necessary.
Season 1[]
- In the Season 1 Finale, Gabby happily welcomes Jonah when seeing him again for the first time in years.
Season 2[]
- In the second season of the series, when Jonah livestreams her show and hears the cries of many other children across the Internet, she tries to aid them all, even though doing so proved to be highly dangerous, and would have killed her.
- Despite her state, Gabby still remained relatively composed when Jonah, Zag and Francis found her.
- When Jonah asks Gabriel to wipe his memory again, she rejects this possibility and negotiates with Jonah by providing him the opportunity to become the new CEO of Wreath of Life which would allow her to keep helping the internet in a healthier manner.
Season 3[]
- Wasn't afraid at trying to enter the game, Hyrax in the Rocks, to help Camael despite the potential risks.
- The first QnA of Season 3 reveals that Gabby forgave Francis for reading her mail in her absence and didn't try to punish him.
- When Jonah has to go by himself without the party members, Gabby advises him to look out for himself, trusting him to help Camael.
- Upon realizing that Camael was the game itself and represented everything in it, Gabby tries to convince him to go out on his own before forcefully pulling him out as a last resort.
- After realizing the self-destructive mindset Camael had to helping Segen, Gabby tries to encourage him to get help. This, alongside Jonah's advice, encourages Camael to work on a path of self-improvement.
