Ariel is the main protagonist of the 2023 remake film The Little Mermaid, which is a live action incarnation of the mainstream version of Ariel. She is the youngest of King Triton’s seven daughters and as well as a mermaid princess who wants to live on the surface after falling in love with a human named Eric.

Ariel is portrayed by Halle Bailey.

What Makes Her Pure Good?[]

She is friendly towards all the animals of the sea.
When the shark was about to harm her and Flounder, she gave Flounder a warning to look out and help them escape from the wrecked ship.
She apologizes to her father for missing out the important meeting that she had to attend with her sisters.
When the hurricane occurred, Ariel saved Eric and unlike her animated counterpart, she also helped Eric's dog Max to go to safety.
She isn't afraid to speak her mind when she says that mermaids aren't any better than humans when it comes to having respect for balance.
When Triton demands her to never see Eric again, she genuinely says she can't make that promise.
She helped her older sisters clean up the mess that the humans' made in the ocean.
Her love for Eric is so deep that she even gave up her voice and mermaid tail for him.
- Unlike the original film, Ariel tried to resist Ursula and did so only because she was needed to pay price on Ursula "help".
After realizing Ursula being Vanessa and her true plans, Ariel immediately ran up to Vanessa and fought her at the balcony to stop the "wedding" and to get her voice back.
She rightfully calls Ursula a monster after the latter killed her father.
When Ursula was about to kill Eric with the trident, Ariel stopped her by turning the trident's direction to Flotsam and Jetsam. Though this ended up with Flotsam and Jetsam being killed and for Ursula wanting to seek revenge for them, it was the only way to save Eric.
She killed Ursula by impaling her with the bowsprit of a wrecked ship, which saves Eric, resurrects her father, and ends Ursula's reign of terror for good. This, in turn, avenged all the innocent merfolk who have been killed by Ursula in the process, and made humans and mermaids to become friends.
She mends her relationship with her father, Triton, who also apologizes for not listening to her.
