Artur Braus is a supporting character in the dark fantasy manga and anime series, Attack on Titan. He is an Eldian who lives on Paradis Island and the father of Sasha Braus.
He was voiced by Hiroshi Naka in the season 1-3. Later Hiroshi was replaced by Otoya Kawano in the Final season in the Japanese version. Jeremy Schwartz voices Artur in the English version.
What makes him Pure Good?[]
- Shows incredible patience, compassion and understanding, not angered or frustrated by the decreasing game and shortage of food due to the influx of refugees from Wall Maria.
- Was willing to move on from his clan's traditions of hunting and become a farmer in order to become part of the rest of the world, which is especially noble considering outsiders always viewed his clan as savages.
- He attempts to impart his wisdom onto his daughter, and while Sasha joined the military in retaliation, she never forgot his words, and he ultimately inspired her to become a better person and help save lives.
- When Dauper was attacked by Titans, Artur goes with others to bring horses to other villagers in order to help them escape from the Titans.
- Opens up his home to orphans whose parents had been killed by Titans.
- Upon meeting Niccolo, a Marleyan prisoner-of-war, at Sasha's grave, Artur befriends Niccolo in spite of his Marleyan nationality and his status as a captive soldier.
- Accepts Gabi and Falco into his home when they claimed they ran away, and excused Gabi's rude behavior when she slapped his wife's hand away.
- When he learns Gabi was responsible for Sasha's death and is given the chance to get revenge on Gabi, he instead takes responsibility for his daughter's death since he let her leave their village and enter a world where people killed each other for survival, forgiving Gabi to try and put an end to the cycle of vengeance.
- After Niccolo released Falco, Artur actually asked Gabi if she was okay and showed concern for her wellbeing.
- When Lisa expresses concern over Gabi and Falco, Artur eases her mind, exclaiming that they're both strong, and is disheartened when Kaya declares her hatred for both of them, demonstrating his sense of forgiveness towards Falco and Gabi.
- His decision to forgive has a deep impact on Gabi, and through his willingness to spare her life, Gabi is finally able to understand that the people of Paradis Island weren't devils, abandoning all of her hatred towards them, making her realize what Falco had previously implied by treating their enemies like equal humans.
- Inspires both Niccolo and Kaya to abandon their hatred towards Gabi and Falco, making them better people as well.
- During the start of the Rumbling, Artur tried to save Kaya when she got attacked by a titan, and almost put his life at risk had it not been for Niccolo stopping him.
- Helps Gabi to find Falco and rescue him before he's fed by Connie to his mother.
- Does not have any of the corrupting factors that several other characters in the series possess.
Trivia[]
- Artur and Falco Grice are the only two characters from Attack on Titan to be Pure Good.
