“ | Eternity extends time into infinity, dreams illuminate each moment within. When both shine in unison, the Sacred Sakura blooms from the darkness, finally free from the clutches of the Heavenly Principles. Now, the nightmare has dissipated, and reality is made whole. The vision we both yearn for is still further ahead. | „ |
~ Makoto explain the purpose of the Sacred Sakura. |
“ | My only regret is that I cannot witness Inazuma's future, nor can I walk this journey with you. Do you know, Ei. I am so happy right now. Because my final wish has now come true. Your polearm once protected me from countless calamities. For this, I've always felt indebted to you. Though I could never repay you in full, this Sacred Sakura will buy you some time until you are ready to awaken and embrace the new. What do you think? Did it do the trick? This time, it really is goodbye, Ei. | „ |
~ Makoto bids goodbye to Ei before the last part of her soul completely fades away. |
Raiden Makoto, also known by her divine name Baal, is a posthumous major protagonist in Genshin Impact. She was the first Electro Archon who was killed in the Cataclysm 500 years before the events of the main game, inspiring her sister, who served as her front, a kagemusha, to take matters to her own perception of “Eternity”.
Like her twin sister, she is voiced by Anne Yatco in English and by Miyuki Sawashiro in Japanese.
What Makes Her Pure Good?[]
- Planted the Sacred Sakura tree on top of Mt. Yogou, which inosculated with the Irminsul network in Inazuma, protecting it from various monsters and other threats
- Sacrificed herself in the Cataclysm in Khaenri'ah, inspiring her twin sister Raiden Ei to pursue her own form of Eternity. This kickstarted the events of the Inazuma Archon Quests in which the Traveler restored freedom to the Nation of Eternity.
- Upon being temporarily reawakened by Raiden Ei using the full power of her Musou Isshin, she apologised to Ei for her reckless move of leaving to battle in Khaenri'ah on her own, and told her the truth about the Sacred Sakura, inspiring her to revoke the Sakoku Decree and allowing free travel in and out of Inazuma.
- While she only had a few appearances on-screen, with most of her character being detailed in texts, she was described to be a benevolent deity who cherished the innate impermanence of living beings, and from her on-screen appearances, is shown to be a selfless mentor towards her sister, Ei.
