Barbara Gordon, also known as Batgirl, is a supporting character in the DC Animated Universe.
She is the daughter of Commissioner James Gordon, and as Batgirl, she is Batman's crimefighting partner and protegé after Robin. In the future, she becomes the new commissioner after her late father.
She was voiced by Melissa Gilbert in Batman: The Animated Series, the late Mary Kay Bergman in Batman & Mr. Freeze: SubZero, Tara Strong who also voiced Melody in The Little Mermaid II: Return to the Sea, Twilight Sparkle in My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic, Twilight Sparkle's equestria girls counterpart in My Little Pony: Equestria Girls, and Talwyn Apogee in Ratchet & Clank: Tools of Destruction and Ratchet & Clank: Quest for Booty in The New Batman Adventures, Gotham Girls, and Batman: Mystery of the Batwoman, and her younger self in Batman Beyond: Return of the Joker, and Stockard Channing in the first season of Batman Beyond before being replaced by Angie Harmon.

- She helped Batman protect Gotham City from many villains and became his partner in The New Batman Adventures.
- She helps Terry McGinnis on his missions in Batman Beyond.
- Although she gained corrupting factors in Batman Beyond, such as holding a grudge against Bruce and not trusting Terry, she subverted them by the end of the show.
TV Shows[]
- When she thought she and Batman had accidentally killed Harvey Bullock (It was actually a robot of him), she felt extremely guilty.
- She saved Batman from the Cybertron facility that was about to explode.
- When her father was arrested, Barbara tried to prove his innocence and searched for clues and later decided to become Batgirl to save him.
- She saved Robin from being swept away by a flood.
- She distracts Two-Face and his gang with a gas grenade, allowing her father to escape.
- Despite what he had done towards her father, Batgirl saved Gil Mason from dying from the crashing boat.
- She teams up with Catwoman to stop Roland Daggett.
- She saved Daggett from falling into acid.
- Although she stopped Robin from going after Catwoman in a stolen police car, she said there will be another time to catch her and was glad the policemen were okay.
- In Batman & Mr. Freeze: SubZero, she stops a group of criminals and saves a civilian.
- She agrees to be Mr. Freeze's hostage so he won't kill Dick Grayson.
- When she realizes Mr. Freeze needs a donor for Nora's blood transfusion, Barbara offers to help, but not in their methods when they tried to harvest her organs.
- She tries to warn Koonak about Mr. Freeze's motives and tries to get him to free her.
- She warns Belson to stop shooting at her or he'll shoot at a fuel tank that eventually caused a fire.
- She and Batman save Nora and Koonak from the rig that was burning down.
- Although Robin found out that Barbara was Batgirl and Batman knew the whole time, she tried to explain the situation and was shocked when Robin punched Batman and quitted being his sidekick and became Nightwing. She also showed no resentment towards Dick when he broke up with her and tried to get back together with him on occasions.
- She also reminds Robin/Nightwing that he didn't told her about his secret identity and wasn't being honest with her either.
- She stopped Clayface who was wrecking havoc at a mall.
- She and Batman stop Two-Face who attempted to release a deadly gas in Gotham City.
- She uses Mr. Freeze's freeze gun and freezes him to stop him.
- She puts a tracking device on Mr. Freeze's truck to track their location.
- She and Batman free the three doctors that were captured by Mr. Freeze.
- She, Batman, and Nightwing stop Catwoman and El Gancho who tried to steal the Cat's Eye Emerald.
- She and Nightwing willingly save the Joker from being killed by a bodyguard (despite all the evil he had done) and later capture him when he tried to steal a load of money. She also saves the Joker from going into the ocean for the money.
- After Barbara had a nightmare when she was sprayed with a dose of fear toxin by Scarecrow, which consists of her being attacked by Scarecrow and falling from a high building and landing on a squad car with her father and Bullock inside, dying as a result and causing her father to hunt down Batman for revenge of him keeping her identity a secret and for her death, she decides to tell her father the truth about her identity to prevent it from happening in the future. When it's implied he knows she's Batgirl, she hugs him.
- She rescues Cassidy from the burning concert.
- Although she pulled a lever that triggered a booby trap of the building exploding and causing a firebomb, she didn't know it would cause a fire and it truly was an accident.
- She, along with Batman and Robin/Tim Drake saved the citizens from being attacked by Farmer Brown's savage animals and she saves Tim from being killed by Farmer Brown's bull.
- She and Tim save Bullock from being killed by Farmer Brown's giant pig and she tries to fight his daughter, Emmylou Brown who was working with him to devour Gotham's population.
- She formed a friendship with Supergirl and teamed up with her to stop Harley Quinn, Poison Ivy, and Livewire from causing chaos in Gotham.
- She incapacitates Livewire by throwing electric-resistant silicate dust at her, making her unable to use her electric powers on her and Supergirl and defeats her at the zoo by throwing her into a water puddle, shocking her.
- In a flashback of Batman Beyond: Return of the Joker, she helps Batman try to save Tim Drake who was captured by the Joker.
- She fights Harley Quinn who helped the Joker brainwash Tim Drake.
- She later tried to save her when she was about to fall from an edge after being blasted from one of her rockets, even after everything she's done, but failed and even looked distraught after failing to save her.
- She also tried to reason with her and asking her why she helped Joker, knowing that he’s not a good and sane person.
- As Tim Drake was crying out of remorse for killing the Joker, she comes in and comforts him, even though he has just broken the no-killing rule. Although, he didn’t have much choice in the event. She and Bruce eventually turn Tim back to normal after rescuing him.
- She fights Harley Quinn who helped the Joker brainwash Tim Drake.
- She became the new commissioner after her father died in the future.
- After she tried to apprehend Terry after misbelieving that he murdered Mad Stan, she later realized her mistake and apologized to Terry for trying to apprehend him and supports him from now on.
- She finally decides to tell Terry the reason for the Joker returning to Neo-Gotham when he attacked him and Bruce.
- She fully reconciled with Bruce and was happy that Tim was free from Joker's control for good.
Gotham Girls[]
- In the web-animation series Gotham Girls, she usually stops the main female villains in every episode.
- She tried to investigate the disappearance of her father.
- She still helped the police despite Caroline Greenway's hostile behavior towards her.
- She tried to stop Harley and Ivy from stealing the villain's possessions.
- She tried to clear Catwoman's name who was innocent of the kidnapping charges.
- She saved Harley and Ivy from falling and called out the police for being too aggressive towards them.
- She broke Catwoman, Harley, and Ivy out of jail, only to prove their innocence and not for immoral reasons, and promised to take them back to prison when they're no longer in danger after the crimes they committed in the past.
- She stopped Renee Montoya from shooting Catwoman, Harley, and Ivy.
- She destroyed the android that looked like her father.
- She saved her father from Dora Smithy who tried to freeze him to death and tried to convince her that Mr. Freeze saved his wife Nora and had he listened to Dora, Nora wouldn't be alive to this day and tries to save Dora when she slips and falls into the vat of cryo-solution.
Trivia[]
- She is the only DC Animated Universe character to be Pure Good.
- Originally, she was approved Near Pure Good because of her corrupting factors in Batman Beyond, but it turns out she got rid of all of them by the end of the show, thus approving her Pure Good.
- This version of Batgirl, alongside her version in the Lego Batman Movie and Harley Quinn TV series, are the only incarnations of Batgirl considered Pure Good.
