Benji is the main protagonist of the Benji franchise created by Joe Camp.
He was portrayed by Higgins, Benjoe, Benjean, Moochie and Cooper. In Oh! Heavenly Dog, he was voiced by Chevy Case as the reincarnation of Benjamin Browning.
What Makes Him Pure Good?[]
- He rescued Paul and Cindy (Carter and Frankie in the remake) from their kidnappers and at all costs and always tried to gain the attention of Mary (Whitney in the remake) and the authorities to help him rescue them. His heroic act of rescuing the kids from their kidnappers would lead to their parents adopting Benji.
- Though he sometimes pestered cats, he never did it out mischief nor malice and instead wanted to play with them. Plus, the owner of Sweet Pea was actually cool with Benji harassing her cat, even when she was constantly annoyed by it.
- While he did leave a pregnant Tiffany behind during their flight to Athens, Greece, he never understood the intentions of the airport staff and mistakenly assumed that they were being separated from Mary and the children. Thus, he felt like he had no choice but to escape and he couldn't bring Tiffany with him, even if he wanted to. Additionally, he did whatever it took to reunite with Tiffany and their owners, whilst he was being pursued by Chandler Dietrich and other secret agents.
- He quickly got over his fear of firearms after a traumatic experience that killed his original owner and went to Cindy's rescue when she was being held hostage by Chandler and led him to be arrested.
- He never held a grudge against the burglar who killed his original owner, even when it led him become traumatized over a fear of firearms.
- After being separated by his owner, Frank Inn at sea and being stranded in the wilderness, he tried to help a wounded cougar after she got shot by a hunter.
- Upon discovering an orphaned litter of cougar cubs and realizing that they belonged to the cougar he witnessed got shot earlier, he opted to adopt the cubs and protect them from predation. He also refused to reunite with Frank Inn until he got the cubs adopted by another cougar.
- Though he did kill the timber wolf by leading him to fall to his death off a cliff, he only did it in self-defense and there was no other way to stop him from killing him and the cubs.
- He saved his mother from overbreeding to death by Terrance Muncy Hatchett.
- He rescued Lizard Tongue from being captured by the two Animal Control officers, Livingston and Sheldon.
- He tucked up a sleeping Whitney and tidied up her room while he was under the care of Carter and Frankie.
- He hired Mongrel to assist him in rescuing Carter and Frankie from the robbers who kidnapped them with her keen sense of smell.
- After defeating Rott, Benji had Mongrel subdue Rott and help him redeem himself, which led him to turn against his abusive owners.
- He risked his life to rescue Carter and Frankie as they were about to be taken away on a boat and nearly got himself killed by one of the robbers in the process.
- When Prince Yubi and Zax landed on Earth as refugees from the distant planet Antars, he strived to protect them from Zanu's hunters at any cost.
- He and Zax helped defend Trask's cattle and goldmine from a pair of rustlers.
- He helped Zax defeat Darah and Khyber's ruthless level 10 droid, Zord. While he did help Zax kill Zord, he was too dangerous to be kept alive. Plus, Zord was revived in later episodes.
- He recovered Yubi's cipher and restored his health with the help of Joey after Will stole it from him.
- He told Zax to be polite towards Tanya, even after finding out that she was a secret agent of Zanu sent to capture Yubi.
- He helped rescue a mischievous delinquent named T.J. Parker from the two hunters, even after his act of shoplifting Charlie Ross' store led to Yubi getting arrested.
- He helped the Janson family deliver their horse, Sugarfoot to a faraway animal hospital after he gets injured by the hunters, while trying to protect them. Benji also flies the Jansons' old war plane to save everyone's life when Yubi and Len get locked out of the cockpit until he reactivates Zax.
- When he finds out that a duplicate impersonating Zax named Circon lacks arachnophobia, unlike Zax, Benji realized the trap and continuously intervened to protect Yubi until Circon gave chase and Benji defeated him by leading him to be destroyed by the two hunters.
- He rescued a group of scientists from a squad of alien drones invading the Solar system.

- His role in Oh! Heavenly Dog doesn't count, due to Benji being the reincarnation of Benjamin Browning.
- Benji makes a cameo appearance in Hawmps? (along with Tiffany) and The Double McGuffin (along with Frank Inn).
