“ | See a need, fill a need! | „ |
~ Bigweld's second motto |
Bigweld is the overarching protagonist of Blue Sky's 2nd animated film Robots.
He is a famous robot inventor who founded Bigweld Industries, using his intelligence to make spare parts and help millions of outmodes in Robot City. He is also the idol of the movie's main protagonist, Rodney Copperbottom.
He was voiced by Mel Brooks.
What Makes Him Pure Good?[]
- He founded Bigweld Industries, using his intelligence in order to make inventions and spare parts that would help millions of robots in Robot City and across the world.
- He hosted a television show called the Bigweld Show, where he'd show his inventions and preach his positive messages to several robots.
- He'd always allow and encourage any inventors to test their inventions at his company, looking over each of them one-by-one and placing value in all of them, even the ones that didn't work as intended.
- He inspired a countless number of robots to believe in themselves and that they could achieve greatness regardless of who they were, and inspired Rodney to become an inventor to make a difference in the world.
- Despite the corporation being named after himself and its building being modeled after his own appearance, he never has any signs of egotism nor arrogance about it, and the reason he founded the company was to make robots' lives better.
- Though he did relinquish control of Bigweld Industries to Ratchet when he began making more profits, thus becoming more jaded and telling Rodney to give up on his dreams, Bigweld quickly regained his previous optimism and hope after Rodney said that he wanted to grow up to be like him.
- He expresses his admiration for Rodney's character, telling Rodney he wants to grow up to be like him (he did not mean this literally, as he is technically much older than Rodney, but rather that Rodney saying those words to him is what inspired him to fight back).
- He waves in appreciation to all of his employees when they begin applauding his return to Bigweld Industries.
- He takes a stand against Ratchet and attempts to remove him as head of Bigweld Industries to stop his genocidal plans against outmodes.
- He takes Rodney on as his assistant at Bigweld Industries and as his eventual successor.
- He helps Rodney's dad, Herb, by giving him the spare parts to save his life.
- He gives Diesel a voice box of his own so he wouldn't have to keep using old voice boxes.
Trivia[]
- Bigweld is one of the two characters from Robots to be Pure Good, the other being Rodney Copperbottom. Coincidentally, their counterparts, Madame Gasket and Phineas T. Ratchet respectively, are Near Pure Evil.
