Buer, also known as the Dendro Archon, Nahida, Lesser Lord Kusanali, the Physic of Purity, and the God of Wisdom, is a major playable character in the 2020 action role-playing fantasy video game Genshin Impact.
She is the ruling Dendro Archon of Sumeru, the successor and reincarnation to Greater Lord Rukkhadevata and the youngest member of The Seven who strives to have a stronger presence in Sumeru after being confined in the Sanctuary of Surasthana for more than 500 years.
She is voiced by Ling Hua in the original Chinese version, Kimberly Anne Campbell in the English dub and Yuki Tamura in the Japanese dub.
What Makes Her Pure Good?[]
In General[]
- Despite being cloistered within the Sanctuary of Surasthana for half a millennium, she wasn't driven insane by such a long time of confinement due to her strong sense empathy towards the people of Sumeru, going as far as to protect them with her powers despite not being their god like with granting her powers to the exiled scholars in Aaru Village to protect it from earthquakes, while taking care of a sickly girl named Dunyarzad Homayani throughout her life by appearing in her dreams now and then, offering her protection to her.
- Is genuinely nice to children as she would usually play with them in their dreams and helps them resolve any internal distress.
Event Quests[]
- Upon hearing a Fatui engineer managing to replicate her powers, she expresses her desire to meet the Traveler in the future, taking control of the Dodocommunication Device.
- Decides to preserve Sachin’s research knowing that he was right in his bad experiences with human behaviour.
Archon Quests[]
- Came to the site of the Sabzeruz Festival samsara to save her people and Dunyarzad Homayeni, who was sponsoring the celebration, from it by helping Dehya and the Traveler to escape the mind-breaking, and finding the host of the dream harvesting operation, allowing her to connect with the people that would become trustworthy allies.
- Mind-controls Setaria and three other people to lead her away from the sages after she inadvertently revealed that the Akademiya were using King Deshret's revival to turn the radical Eremites into their scapegoats for their operation to extract forbidden knowledge for Scaramouche while knowing that she's the one who's more likely to be redeemed and thus more innocent, which proves integral in helping the heroes foil the plans to provide Scaramouche forbidden knowledge while he's being connected to Irminsul, which could be potentially catastrophic to it.
- Before The Doctor captures her again, she informs the Traveler a contingency plan telling them to go the desert region south of Dharma Forest to uncover the Sages' plans to use them as their scapegoat.
- Uses her powers to save everyone from falling to death before descending into a chamber within the Mausoleum of King Deshret, which they chanced upon while trying to find the kidnapped scholars, finding out that Deshret and Rukkhadevata fought together against Forbidden Knowledge. This would lead Rahman to realize that they and his fellow radicals were being used by the Akademiya as scapegoats for their kidnapping of the exiled scholars to help with their God Creation Plan, allowing them to redeem themselves, and would also lead to Isak deciding to repay the kindness by pretending to be Kusanali as part of Alhaitham's plan to release her.
- Despite having every right to be angry at the sages' treatment of her, it only made her more determined to finish off the sages' plans, after refusing to take action against them due to her inexperience.
- Builds a Paimon sized Neo Akasha Terminal to utilize the wisdom of everyone in Sumeru City against Shouki no Kami.
- Outsmarts Shouki no Kami by forcing him into a dream loop, and has the Traveler use the battle experience gained to defeat him and stop his ascension.
- Defeats Shouki no Kami and retrieves his Gnosis to find a way into Rukkhadevata's memories.
- Erases Rukkhadevata's consciousness to save Irminsul from its corrupted state and removes her consciousness from it, ending all traces of forbidden knowledge from Sumeru.
- After Scaramouche's defeat, hides his body from the public to protect him from harm. She would try to make him into a better person throughout the third Interlude Chapter in the game.
- When Il Dottore wants to take the Electro and Dendro Gnoses from her by force, she defends herself by pretending to have the Gnosis destroyed to unleash the Heavenly Principles on him. Dottore falls for the trick and she tells him to destroy his segments in a fair exchange for the Gnosis, leading to him destroying them anyway, and in exchange for the Dendro Gnosis, she tells him to give her new intel in exchange for it. Dottore informs her of the Descenders, with the Traveler being one of them, integral in helping the Traveler find the truth about their twin.
- Turns off the Akasha, allowing the people in Sumeru to think and discover knowledge freely after 500 years of misuse as the Sages used it to directly connect to Irminsul in spite of her warnings.
- Promptly sentences the four sages involved in the God-Creation Plan to community service at Avidya Forest, despite Cyno lamenting that their punishment was too light as he threatened to Azar "judgment in the name of a god," sparing their lives even though they attempted to replace her through their conspiracies.
Story Quests[]
- Stops Moseis from preying on peoples' losses and insecurities to absorb their Jnana Energy to sustain himself and his dream, after being trapped within the dream plane with no way to return to his physical body.
- Knowing that death was too easy of a way out against Moseis, she spares him and returns his consciousness back to his body before sending him to the Matra.
- Helped a pair of elemental life forms taking on the form of Fungi who were emptied out mentally after the erasure of Forbidden Knowledge.
- Was willing to sacrifice her own body to use the Fire Seed to save the creatures she befriended despite its instability. She was also willing to also degenerate into no smaller than a blade of grass to purify Apep.
- Cures Apep from the after effects of Forbidden Knowledge and prevented it from destroying the Sumeru region, turning it into an overgrown wasteland.
Interlude Chapters[]
- Forges a deal with Scaramouche to go on a trip to Irminsul to find out the truth about his second betrayal, which she managed to extract from one of The Doctor's segments before destroying all of them.
- Helps Scaramouche to find out the truth about Niwa's death and second betrayal, even though he tried to kill her several times to get her Gnosis.
- Once she finds out that Scaramouche decided to go into Irminsul himself to erase his past history, knowing that doing so wouldn't change anything, he returns his original personality which she had a back up about back to him, leading to him confronting the memories of his past, getting a Vision and finally accepting who he was.
- Lets Scaramouche walk all over Sumeru as the nameless Wanderer, seeing him finding a purpose in life serving a deity, and tells him to decide his own future, while promising to continue looking for the Traveler's twin in Irminsul.
