Captain America (real name Steven Grant "Steve" Rogers) is a character and titular patriotic superhero of the Captain America comic book and one of the first heroes in the Marvel Universe. He fought against Red Skull during WWII as part of a secret Super-Soldier Serum experiment - he was revived in the modern age by the Avengers and became their leader as a champion of the ideals of truth, justice and the American way.
He was created by the late Joe Simon, and the late Jack Kirby, and first appeared in Captain America #1 in March of 1941.
Captain America was the first Marvel Comics character to appear in media outside comics with the release of the 1944 movie serial, Captain America. Since then, the character has been featured in other films and television series. In the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), the character was portrayed by Chris Evans.
What Makes Him Pure Good?[]
- Although he did have a good amount of brutality on Nazis during the Golden Age, this violence is suppressed from Silver Age and so on.
- Unlike several characters in Marvel Comics, Steve lacks any corrupting qualities. It was for this reason that he was chosen to take the Super Soldier Serum, since it only amplified the goodness inside of him.
- He is one of the several mortals capable of lifting Mjølnir.
- He never takes lives unless absolutely necessary.
- He is the leader of the Avengers and they go on to save the entire world from several dangerous threats.
- He then fought against Venom as the Spider-King before trying to find a cure on the spider island, leading to Kaine to die from this.
- He end's up going to a different universe where Iron Man was evil and killing many civilians beyond his way before Cap manages to defeat his terror once and for all.
- He is one of the bravest heroes in the Marvel Comics to date. as He saves the world from many threats especially HYDRA and also helps Bucky Barnes regains his memory after becoming the Winter Soldier.
- Helped stop HYDRA from taking over the world and defeating many well known villains along the way such as the Red Skull in WWII and countless other times.
- Defeated Cyclops and stopped Superior Iron Man in a different universe.
- While Cap hasn’t technically been as flawless as most claim arresting and antagonizing Hope Summers and other mutants as well as doggedly refusing to listen to the other side in Civil War (2006), he’s still ultimately a good and humble man.
- one of the reasons why people to turn him as the leader is his protectiveness and concern over them. He frequently looks out for them and treats them like family.
- At one point Magneto tried to erase his mind of all prejudice towards Mutants, to prove his claim that even someone like Cap could be prejudiced. But the problem that has no prejudice towards anybody.
- He makes it clear that he's loyal to the American Dream, not the government itself.
- While he is a serious man, and he barely jokes but that doesn’t change the fact that he doesn’t darken the mood.
- He defended Spider-Man from J. Jonah Jameson.
Trivia[]
- There are continuity issues on if Golden Age and Post-1960's Marvel stories involving Steve Rogers to be canon or not, such as how the tone of the episodic nature of the original comics differ from how he's presented, or the changes in Bucky's storyline to fit into the modern timeline, but for the sake of avoiding divergence, All the mainstream ages of Captain America are in general the same version.
