Those who mistakenly do the wrong thing which is mainly due to them having the lack of knowledge in that particular circumstance. In other words, they do bad because they think they are doing good. This nearly always appears in fables where some wide-eyed youth is ready to be taught a lesson during the story. This probably can be done as well for competent characters who are totally grown and simply don't see a certain scope of the world they need to be concerned about.
They most likely will still take a starring role in their works, usually the lead role as their misguidedness can often kickstart the plot of the work. However, the works themselves are existent under the idea that characters begin being unsure in a way that's worse. There are a number of times where these Pure Good Heroes probably will be manipulated and/or misguided by an outside source instead of by themselves, and some of these cases probably will qualify as pawns of the villain, which depends on the story or factors.
The dark counterparts of these heroes are delusional pure evils.
