Celes Chere is a deuteragonist of Final Fantasy VI. She is a genetically enhanced Magitek Knight and former general of the Gestahlian Emperor, who after questioning Emperor Gestahl and his jester Kefka Palazzo's actions, she was imprisoned for treason. She was freed by the Returners and soon fell in love with Locke Cole.
She was voiced by Houko Kuwashima in the Japanese version, and by Christina Rose in the English version.
What Makes Her Pure Good?[]
- She defied Emperor Gestahl and Kefka's orders over turning innocent humans and espers into Magitek Knights.
- She, alongside the rest of the Returners tried to stop the Emperor and Kefka from moving the Statue of the Warring Triad, though they were unsuccessful.
- She refused the Emperor's offer of betraying her friends just to be cleared of her crimes against the Empire.
- After being rescued by Cid Del Norte Marquez, she attempted to nurse him back to health after he became gravely ill. Depending on how much food she gives him, she can successfully restore him back to health.
- After reuniting with the Returners, she confronts a transformed Kefka and reveals why she has a meaning to live.
- She defeats Kefka, and restores the World back to its former, peaceful glory.
- Her disapproval of the Empire’s methods proves that, like with Kefka on his evil, Gestahl’s heinous Magitek experiments did not dilute her moral capability and she chose to do good and oppose evil entirely on her own accord.
