Chip, or alternatively, Light Gaia, is the deuteragonist of Sonic Unleashed.

He is the incarnation of light itself, with his purpose being of guiding the Earth to its rebirth and stopping his rival Dark Gaia from shrouding it in darkness.

He was voiced by Anthony Salerno.

What Makes Him Pure Good?[]

Before the events of the game, he has stopped Dark Gaia from destroying Earth multiple times.
At the beginning of the game, he saves Sonic from falling to his death.
Assisted Sonic on his quest to stop Dark Gaia along with Eggman.
Using his necklace, he brought power back into the Chaos Emeralds with the help of the Gaia Temples.
Despite calling Sonic a monster in his werehog form, it is made abundantly clear that he means no ill intent with it.
He Saved Sonic from being killed by Dark Gaia.
He Saved Sonic from falling into Earth's core.
Was Crucial in the defeat of Dark Gaia, and thus played a big part in saving the world.
Was willing to face Dark Gaia alone, not wanting Sonic to get involved aby more than he already had showing him to be really brave.
While him being Light Gaia, and thus, made of light, could lead to possible morality issues, Chip has shown the capabilities of being a jerk to others, whether intentionally or unintentionally, as well as putting up an act in front of his enemies, making it likely that he has agency.
Due to him re-activating the Chaos Emeralds, he also played a posthumous impact on the later games, as Sonic used them to defeat many threats.
