She is played by Taylor Momsen.
What Makes Her Pure Good?[]
- She's the most innocent and compassionate person in the story and does her best to convince the other Whos to accept the Grinch and overcome their materialism.
- She doesn't see the Grinch as a monster but wants to learn more about him, asking a number of townspeople about his past, and sympathizes with him after learning he was bullied and goes out of her way to befriend him.
- She nominates the Grinch to be the Cheermeister at the Christmas celebration, saying he's the one most in need of holiday cheer, and uses her knowledge of the Book of Who to win a legal debate with the town's corrupt mayor when he tries to block this.
- She travels to the Grinch's lair by herself to deliver his invitation, and even when he tries to scare her off she insists that he's wanted at the celebration and is able to persuade him to come.
- She encourages the Grinch to have fun at the celebration and is distraught when the Mayor humiliates him, and is one of the few who doesn't laugh but is shown to be very upset on his behalf.
- She doesn't hold the Grinch's actions against him but keeps appealing to his good nature, telling him when he's disguised as Santa that she hopes Santa doesn't forget the Grinch and that she thinks he's sweet.
- Her actions in trying to persuade the Whos that Christmas isn't about gifts but being with your loved ones are ultimately successful, as she gets her father and the other Whos to realize what she was trying to tell them and they realize their mistake, and when the Grinch hears them celebrating even after he stole their presents, he has his own heel realization and realizes what the holiday really means.
- She comes to visit the Grinch even after he tried to steal Christmas, telling him no one should be alone on Christmas. This solidifies the Grinch's redemption as seeing her gives him the heroic willpower to save the sleigh and the presents, which he previously wasn't strong enough to do.
- Despite being a child with few resources her altruism has the most positive impact in the story, as she's ultimately successful in redeeming the Grinch and changing both him and the rest of the Whos for the better and helping them see what Christmas is really about.
