Cyno is a major character in the fantasy action role-playing Genshin Impact. He is a deuteragonist in Chapter III of Sumeru's story arc and a supporting character in the webcomics. He is a General Mahamatra who leads the Matro in striking fear into the hearts of researchers of the Sumeru Akademiya, investigating criminal activity and ensuring the safety of Sumeru. As intimidating as he can be however, he also has a habit of cracking unfunny jokes.

He is voiced by Li Qingyang in Chinese, Miyu Irino (whom also voiced Sora) in Japanese, the late Lee Woo-ri in Korean and Alejandro Saab in English.

What Makes Him Pure Good?

• In the prequel manga, he sealed Collei’s serpent (a creature created by Il Dottore using the remains of deceased gods during his experiments on Eleazar patients) before handing her over to his junior, Tighnari.
• Helping the Traveler rescue the Dendro Archon.
• Teaming up with the egotistical genius Alhaitham even after having to fight him while investigating the disappearances of exiled scholars in Aaru Village, and in the process, helping to reveal the kidnappings committed by the Sages in their efforts to obtain Divine Canned Knowledge and create their new deity. In the end, Cyno confronted Azar in the Sanctuary of Surasthana where Buer was being held, apprehending his former boss and forcing him to release the captured Archon. This effectively saved the entire city of Sumeru.
  • During this time, he also helped redeem Rahman and his men by telling them that the Sages were merely manipulating them to use as scapegoats for their Divine Canned Knowledge plot.
• Influencing his former co-worker, Taj Radkani, to sacrifice himself in order to defeat the Court of Desolation, which cut off a major trade route for Canned Knowledge trafficking and cleared the latter's son’s name following his arrest for being part of said operation, resulting in him being released from prison.
• Out of respect for Taj Radkani, he declines a request for the Matra to create a memorial at the site after being forced to leave Taj inside the collapsing Court of Desolation, saying that his fate has been sealed and he had to sacrifice himself for the Court of Desolation to be opened again.
• In A Parade of Providence, while he is shown to have initially joined the Inter-Darshan Games just to get the prize money to buy holographic cards, he eventually stops thinking about the prize money upon hearing about Kaveh’s encounter with Sachin's consciousness in Mawtiyima Forest, leading to him to put an end to the deadly games in future Inter-Darshan championships and closing down the tournament.
• While he is shown to be brutal at times, he only becomes like that whenever it is necessary while doing his job as a Matra.
