Dai is the titular main protagonist of Dragon Quest: The Adventure of Dai. He is a little feral orphan boy raise for an Island full of monsters who dreams of becoming a hero.
He was voiced by the late Toshiko Fujita in 1991 and Atsumi Tanezaki in 2020 reboot in Japanese and Sabrina Pitre in English in 2020 reboot.
What Makes Him Pure Good?[]
- Dai love and appreciate all of the monsters on Dermline Island who raise him since infancy after he was found in an abandoned small boat from the great tragedy.
- Brass, his adoption grandfather, made be hard on him at times, always hit him on the head with his staff every time he fails to cast a spell or misbehaves, and never support his dreams of becoming a hero, yet he still cares about him.
- He saves his best friend Gomechan from the greedy con artists called the fake heroes which earns him the crown of champions from the King of Romos himself.
- Three months later, he saves and protected Leona, the princess of Papnica from the two traitors, Varon and Temjin, who tried to assassinate her on her ritual to take over the Papnica kingdom.
- When the dark lord returned and all the monsters and the whole world including his foster family on Dermline Island and eventually on his adoption grandfather Brass, he was about to send him away on the boat (the same one that he was found as a baby) Dai refused to leave as he doesn't want to abandon the people that raise him.
- As his idol, Avan, came and asked him to train him into becoming a hero, Dai except without no delaying.

- Dai and the Hero are the only Dragon Quest heroes to be Pure Good.
