Why hello there, Old Sport!
~ Dave whenever he sees Jack, his most famous line.
Goodbye, Old Sport. Thanks for putting me back together.
~ Dave's final words in Dayshift at Freddy's 3.

William Afton, better known as Dave Miller, is the main antagonist/deuteragonist of the Dayshift at Freddy's fangame Trilogy.

He acts as the main antagonist/deuteragonist of Dayshift at Freddy's 1 and 2, and the deuteragonist of Dayshift at Freddy's 3.

What Makes Him Pure Good?[]

Prior to DSAF3[]

  • Even prior to his redemption, Dave has always had a lot of redeeming qualities, such as being immensely tragic, affable, on/off as a villain, and had standards, even being horrified when Jack goes full evil with Henry.
  • Due to the experiments that Henry conducted on Dave, his body was split in two. Reasonable Dave had never commited the crimes his feral version had done, making his purity slightly more than seen before.

DSAF3[]

  • While Dave started off a sadistic murderer, as seen above, he was entirely manipulated into doing it by Henry, and while he took pleasure in it, his Reasonable side, aka Flipside Dave did not, noting that his real-world counterpart "really is a monster", showing his disgust for what he's done.
  • He helps jack find Dee, Steven, Peter and Blackjack, acting as the navigator of the flipside and helping bring them peace.
  • If Jack becomes a villain with his real-world counterpart after finding Dee back in the flipside, Dave will call him out on murdering an infant and will, along with Dee, fight Jack in an attempt to stop him from escaping the Flipside and claiming more victims.
  • Dave is the main one to want to free Steven from his pain, saying he liked him.
  • When told the story of how Steven became a Phone Guy, Dave is horrified about how awful Henry was, stating he needed some time to think, showing how truly unaware he was of Henry's true crimes.
  • When they come face-to-face with Henry in the Flipside, Dave is willingly helping the group, showing that in spite of his past with Henry, he's finally ready to bring down this monster.
  • When Jack told Dave that he couldn't go with them due to being soulless, he was entirely willing to stay behind with Jack, sacrificing his own happiness to stay with the one person who could call a true friend.
  • In the Finale, when all of them are set free because Henry's gone, Dave asks Jack to come with them, and be free. When Jack replies his can't, Dave simply replies "Thanks for putting me back together."
  • While his Flipside counterpart does fight the animatronics, Dee, Steven, Peter, Etc. It's all in self defense, and heeds Jack asking him not to cause immense harm.
  • While Dave in some endings is not redeemed, those are all non-canon as the Good Ending is the True Ending, seeing as that's where Henry gets defeated.
  • While Jack is easily more Admirable, Dave still stands out for having far fewer resources, and being one of the main ones behind Henry's downfall.

Trivia[]

  • Dave is the only Dayshift at Freddy's character to be Pure Good.
    • He's also the only version of William Afton to be Pure Good. This is ironic since every canon version of him is Pure Evil.
  • Along with The Collector, Mika Misono and Agent Bishop from the 2003 TMNT series, Dave is one of the only four Pure Good heroes to also be Inconsistently Heinous.
  • Dave in Dayshift at Freddy's 1 and 2 would not be Pure good, due to being a willing killer and villain. However, in Dayshift at Freddy's 3, Dave wholly reforms himself and becomes a pure good hero, shedding every single corrupting factor he once had.
  • He is the only Pure Good redeemed villain to have been qualified as Entertainingly Detestable prior to redemption which is a rare case of a redeemed villain who became Pure Good.
