Diddy Kong is the deuteragonist of the Donkey Kong franchise. He is Donkey Kong's nephew and most frequent adventure companion during the latter's multiple adventures. He is one of the protectors and residents of Donkey Kong Island and King K. Rool's archenemies. He is also the great-grandson of Cranky Kong and Dixie Kong's boyfriend.
He is voiced by Katsumi Suzuki.
What Makes Him Pure Good?[]
- He helped Donkey Kong get the Banana Hoard back from King K. Rool.
- Though he threw tantrums when losing bonus games in the first game, he stopped in the sequels.
- Although Donkey Kong hit him hard in the head as a prank in the ending to the first game, Diddy showed no anger towards his friend for doing so.
- He refused to give all the bananas to K. Rool when Donkey Kong was captured.
- Together with Dixie, they set went to Crocodile Isle to rescue Donkey Kong.
- He congratulates Dixie and her cousin Kiddy for rescuing him along with Donkey when they were captured by K. Rool and using them as a power source for the robot KAOS.
- Helped Timber save his island along with his friends from an alien named Wizpig.
- Helps deactivate King K. Rool's Blast-O-Matic, preventing it from destroying Donkey Kong Island, saving hundreds (possibly thousands) of innocent animals that live there.
- He rewarded Mario and his friends with a Sky Crystal after they freed Donkey Kong from Dry Bones' curse.
- He joined Mario's baseball team to take down Bowser, helping save Tiny Kong from Bowser Jr.
- Helped Donkey Kong recover the Crystal Bananas stolen by K. Rool and returned them to an alien banana named Xananab.
- He took part in stopping the Tiki Tak Tribe, freeing all the animals on the island that were under his control and preventing the tribe from using the bananas in order to create more members in the factory.
- He saves Donkey Kong from falling should his friend defeat Tiki Tong alone,
- He helped free Donkey Kong Island from Lord Fredrik and his Snowmads and return it to its natural habitat alongside Dixie, Donkey and Cranky Kong.
- He has a better temperament than Donkey Kong; while readying for fights in Donkey Kong Country Returns and Tropical Freeze, his aggression is more subdued.
- Despite King K Rool and the Kremlings being their foes he along with Dk let them join the Dk Wilds team after they proved how good they were in baseball.
- Despite the danger, Diddy tried to fight Bowser twice (once for stealing the Banana Hoard and the other was to take revenge for Donkey’s kidnapping). It’s however Donkey and Fox McCloud who ended up saving his life with by sacrificing himself and taking him to safety, respectively.
- Despite forcing Fox and (later) Falco Lombardi to help him rescue Donkey from the Subspace Army, Diddy knew that he couldn’t free him alone. Excluding this rough start, he acts very friendly towards both Fox and Falco.
- When Donkey is rescued, Diddy thanks Falco for his help and waves him goodbye.
- Saves the world of Smash from being taken over by Tabuu, Galeem and Dharkon.
Trivia[]
- He was originally Near Pure Good because he was considered somewhat mischievous and arrogant. However, when it was determined he eventually subverted those qualities and met his series' heroism standard, he was re-evaluated as Pure Good.
- His TV series version does not count due to him being an arrogant, jealous and selfish jerk who constantly gets his friends, mainly DK, into trouble and shows no guilt or remorse over his actions whatsoever.
- He is one of only two characters from the Donkey Kong series who is considered Pure Good along with his girlfriend, Dixie Kong, since Donkey Kong and every other character in the franchise has far too many corrupting factors and/or is too standard.
