Dieter is a supporting character in the manga and anime series Monster. He is a young boy who is being abused by his caretaker, Mr. Hartmann, before being saved by Kenzo Tenma, and joins Tenma on his mission to prove his innocence.
He was voiced by Junko Takeuchi (who is best known for voicing Naruto Uzumaki) in the original Japanese and by Laura Bailey in the English dub.
What Makes Him Pure Good?[]
- He's able to resist the 511 Kinderheim methods and overcome his abuse, bravely standing up to Hartmann and leaving him even when Hartmann threatens to shoot him.
- He cares about all life and doesn't want Tenma to kill Johan despite knowing what he's done, and part of the reason why he goes with Tenma is to stop him from doing so.
- He tries to warn the Turkish district about the Neo-Nazi plot to burn down the town, and directly extinguishes the main fire by using a carpet to put out the flames, which saved hundreds if not thousands of people.
- He calls the fire station to get help for people trapped in Johan's library fire.
- He's able to break through the psychological conditioning Johan placed on a boy, and saves the boy from falling to his death.
- He helps Lipsky overcome his trauma over being disowned by Bonaparta.
- He tries to help Nina when she has a breakdown during a session with Dr. Gillen.
