| ~ Ekko convincing Jinx not to kill herself. |
Ekko, also known as The Boy Savior, is one of the three tritagonists (alongside Viktor and Mel Medarda) in Riot Games/Netflix's 2021 animated series Arcane, which serves as a spin-off of the popular 2009 MOBA video game League of Legends.
He's a Zaunite youth who is the leader of the Firelights, a street gang who serves to oppose Silco's Shimmer operations as well as help anyone who needs it. He is also the childhood best friend and love interest of Powder, better known as Jinx.
He's voiced by Reed Shannon as a young adult and by Miles Brown as a child.
What Makes Him Pure Good?[]
In General[]
- Despite his apparent prejudice towards the people of Piltover, this attitude is only shown towards Piltover enforcers, who are shown to be corrupt officials. This shows that he isn't really xenophobic towards Piltover, but rather just hates corrupt officials in the city.
Season One[]
- Even as a young kid, he was always looking for ways to help the Undercity and provided Vi with the possibility of a heist to Jayce's laboratory.
- After Benzo and Grayson were killed, he tracked Silco to find where Vander was taken and informed Vi of it.
- Helped establish and lead the Firelights, a community of people who look out for each other, built around a growing healthy tree in the Undercity.
- Made a mural in honor of all the loved ones he and the Firelights lost one way or another, including (but not exclusive to) Benzo, Vander, Mylo, Claggor, Vi, and even Powder).
- Goes on raids with the goal of taking down Silco's Shimmer opperations so that the people of Zaun won't have to suffer.
- His constant raids of Silco's Shimmer are a huge part on why he was constricted to Zaun and never expandes his influence to further parta of Runeterra.
- While he did lose hope in Jinx ever returning to her Powder persona and saw her as just another of Silco'a goons, this ia justified since by this point she'd been working for him for years and had brutally killed multiple of Ekko's fellow firelights.
- Appears to be a pacifist as he's never shown to seriously injure Silco's workers, even when given the chance to hurt them as seen when he only leaves them incapacitated for a short while. He also stops one of his Firelight friends from killing Vi as he would rather capture her and Caitlyn to see if they can be allies.
- While he did attack Vi and Cait, this was only out of concern for them interacting with Jinx and to question their motives.
- After being talked to by Cait, he agreed to personally escort her and Vi back to Piltover so they can return the Hextech Gemstone to Jayce, who can use his influence to greatly help the Undercity and the Firelights' cause.
- When Jinx nearly kills them on the bridge, Ekko fights her to give Vi and Caitlyn time to escape and take the Gemstone to the council so peace can be established between Piltover and Zaun.
- Stopped attacking Jinx when he saw how hurt and fearful she was, showing he still cares about her and sees the girl he used to know still inside her.
- After surviving Jinx's bomb and recovering under the bridge where he was found by Heimendinger, he talked about his inventions with him and took him back to the Firelight hideout.
Season Two[]
- Teamed up with Heimerdinger to bring further benefits to the Firelights' community.
- When their tree shows signs of corruption, he and Heimerdinger sneak into Jayce's lab in hopes of finding an answer that will stop it.
- He and Jayce discuss potential causes of the tree's corruption and travel together to the Hexgates' core, finding a massive anomaly and trying to study it before being displaced across time and space.
- When sent to an alternate universe, he paints that universe's Powder a mural of a grown up Vi after finding out she died there years earlier.
- Finds a way back to his own universe despite the temptation to stay as he knows his people still need his help.
- Immediately goes and saves Jinx from committing suicide as soon as he gets back to his universe, despite their bad history and the fact she keeps blowing herself up, all because he still cares about her and wants her to have a second chance at life.
- While he does fight and nearly kill her in back in season one, he stopped after remembering that she was once Powder, and later subverts this by saving Jinx from suicide and mending their relationship, as well as working with Jinx to fight in the war with Piltover and Zaun against Noxus.
- Goes and helps Piltover and Zaun in the war with Noxus, bringing Jinx and the Firelights with him.
- Proves to be the key factor in stopping Viktor's "Glorious Evolution" plan, using his Z-Drive to go back in time and throw the unstable device at him, causing it to blow up in his face in both the physical and astral plane. This in turn gave Jayce the chance to talk Viktor out of his plan and reverse the effects.
Trivia[]
- Ekko is currently the only Arcane character and the second League of Legends character in general (after Taric) to be qualified for Pure Good status. However only Ekko from Arcane counts as PG as his counterpart from League of Legends has not been approved.
- Ekko and Jayce (who is NPG) are the only Arcane characters to be ranked above Inconsistently Admirable as everyone else is too inconsistent or not admirable enough. Though, Heimerdinger or Mel could qualify for NPG later.
- Ekko could be considered the good counterpart of Viktor as both are Zaunite prodigies who grew up poor and are found by Heimderdinger. They both also end up becoming leaders of their respective groups. However, while Ekko stayed in the Undercity and continued to do the things that were best for his people, Viktor would go up to Piltover and end up being influenced by the Hexcore, going down a dark path where he almost turned all of humanity into robots, although he still had humanity's best interests at heart when he did this.
