The Elder Hailstorm is major character of Plants vs. Zombies 2 Reflourished mod's Epic Realm Hypothermic Hollows. He is the leader of his tribe of Frostbite Caves Zombies, who sought to reclaim his tribe from the wrath of Dr. Zomboss with help from the players.

Like all the other chief-types zombies, he was voiced by Slimeakku.

What makes him Pure Good?

In general

• While Elder Hailstorm is still a brain-eating zombie, it happens off-screen and is portrayed to be an instinct amongst his kind. While he also attempting to do so to the players, he apologized to the heroes and vowed to never do so again. Plus, him eating plants and our brains are simply game mechanic, making his damage not permanent.
• While his almanac entry claimed that he is feared by his people, it is an exaggeration. Plus according to his in-game dialogue, he stands by his tribe, meaning that he does care about it.
• While the main heroes performed more admirable deeds such as stopping Dr. Zomboss from an attempted omnicide, Elder Hailstorm lacked the screentime of doing so. He is also the kick starter of us helping him to reclaim his tribe from the wrath of Dr. Zomboss, and a potential civil war.
• He has moral agency due to characterization and ability to do good, in contrast to the majority of mindless zombies.

Present

• He called for help to us when his tribe was divided by Dr. Zomboss, plus apologized for the attack on Day 12 due to him mistaken as a threat.
• He agreed to help the players to defeat Dr. Zomboss to reclaim his tribe on Day 19, and kept his promise on Day 20.
• After Zomboss was defeated, he thanked us for saving his tribe and broke the ice, agreed to never attack us ever again.
  • While he did return in "Undead Zeniths" Penny's Challenge and other mod installments, they are non-canonical events and his defeat is not permanent in any shape or form.
