Escanor, also known as The Lion Sin of Pride, is a major protagonist in The Seven Deadly Sins franchise.
He is the only human member of the Seven Deadly Sins, serving as the Lion's Sin of Pride. He is the inheritor of Mael's Sunshine ability, causing him to drastically shift between a powerful arrogant brute in day and weakling at night.
He is voiced by Tomokazu Sugita, who also voiced Gyomei Himejima in the Japanese Dub and Kyle Herbert in the English dub.
What Makes Him Pure Good?[]
In General[]
- While he is extremely arrogant during the day, not only is this something he has trouble controlling, but he tearfully apologizes for how he has behaved when he is prepared to die and subverting this.
- He cares deeply for all of his friends, even loving Merlin and having undying loyalty to her.
The Seven Deadly Sins[]
- He refused to fight his brother, Daymond, despite his abuse towards him. The only time he ever hurt him was unintentionally when being provoked, which he showed remorse for.
- He saved his Kingdom, the Kingdom of Costello, by escaping through a barrel, knowing the danger his power poses.
- Saved the town of Liones from a giant monster a long time back.
- Stopped Galand, a Demon who was trying to kill him and his friends.
- At the Vaizel fighting festival, he pretended to be weak so he could attack Drole, the arena master at Vaizel, giving Meliodas the opportunity to fight him and Gloxinia.
- He stopped Estarossa from killing Ban and multiple other Holy Knights, then taking him on and temporarily putting him in a coma to stop his terrorism for some time.
- Alongside the other Sins, he fights multiple evil cursed souls in Corand that are being controlled by Melascula.
- He fights Meliodas in his Demon Mode and ends up knocking him out, preventing further destruction.
- He heads with Ludociel, Merlin, Hendrickson and Gilthunder to fight Zeldris, Cusack and Chandler in an attempt to rescue Meliodas from becoming the new Demon King. He directly takes on Chandler himself at the start, then beats up Zeldris when he uses his Ominous Nebula.
- He fights off numerous Indura in his weak form, proving himself braver than three Holy Knights with more power than him.
- He agrees to let Mael have him use his powers one last time and sacrifices his life to fight and stop the Demon King, beating him out of Zeldris' body, partly saving the world and also winning Merlin an kiss allowing him to die happy.
