~ Galeforce to Henry at the beginning of Special BROvert Ops. |
General Hubert Galeforce, previously Captain Galeforce, is the overarching protagonist of the Henry Stickmin series, though he can play an antagonist's role in villainous routes.
He a government official who wishes to stop and arrest the Toppat Clan for their numerous crimes, enlisting Henry Stickmin to gain incriminating information from them. Following Infiltrating the Airship, he's promoted to general after a successful raid on the Toppats, and is leading the operation to stop them from escaping into space.
Depending on the ending, he can either be directly responsible for Henry's redemption or accidentally cause his rise to power, going from a petty criminal to the leader of the world's biggest criminal organization.
What Makes Him Pure Good?[]
General[]
- In general, he's pretty much the only main character with no corrupting qualities, including incompetence (Charles), moral grayness (Henry and Ellie, who can become villains and often are), or lethality (all three of them).
- While not being as direct as Henry or Charles, it's worth to note that those two only get as far as they do because of Galeforce's resources, such as the spaceship from Valiant Hero or him giving them the permission to take down the clan in Triple Threat.
- Despite wanting to bring down the Toppats, he wants to do it without casualties through arresting them, and only uses lethal methods when absolutely necessary (Henry going rogue in Pure-Blooded Thief or them being minutes away from escaping to space and becoming undefeatable).
Infiltrating the Airship[]
- It could be said that him capturing Henry and forcing him to try to stop the Toppats was a cruel move. However, it was probably for the best as he wanted to stop the Toppats, leads to Henry's redemption half the time, and Henry would have most likely continued on with his crimes if Galeforce didn't capture him. This is without mentioning that Henry was already under several charges, so by all means he had the right to lock him up, but chose to give him a chance to change himself instead, arguably making him more admirable.
- After kidnapping Henry, he offers him a chance at redemption by getting him to stop a group of criminals called the Toppat Clan, which would also stop their plans in the process.
- It could be said him seemingly letting Rupert shoot Henry in Lightning Quick Larcenist is a moment of lethality. However, it's ambiguous whether or not he actually let Rupert do that considering he is never seen telling him or giving him the option to shoot Henry, and he was simply facepalming with his eyes closed as Rupert was raising the gun. The game also cuts to a fail screen before Rupert shoots Henry, making it unclear whether or not he actually let Henry get shot.
- In the Relentless Bounty Hunter ending, he manages to arrest clan's leader, Reginald Copperbottom, and pardons Henry for his crimes.
- In the Government Supported Private Investigator route, he manages to use the incriminating evidence Henry gets to arrest the entire Airship Division of the Toppat Clan, including the leaders.
- In the Rapidly Promoted Executive ending, when Charles expresses his concern over "Henry" and "Reginald" (In reality, Dummies that they threw out the Airship) falling from such a great height, Galeforce calmly replies with "Im sure Henry had a plan", showing that even though Henry was a criminal and he had forced him to help out the goverment, Galeforce trusted Henry and expected him to have landed safely and give Reginald to them (much like in the Relentless Bounty Hunter ending).
- In the Pure Blooded Thief route, he has the government launch an attack on the Toppats to stop their plans when Henry goes rogue, leading to the destruction of the Airship, crippling the clan.
- While it's true he allows Henry to go off scot-free despite the amount of havoc he caused and inevitably will cause again, due to the power Henry had in that route and his luck in general, it's likely he let him go in order to preserve the Government's safety, an idea further supported by him deeming Henry "not worth the trouble" and being explicitly shown to care for his men's safety in Toppat 4 Life.
Completing the Mission[]
- In the Toppat Recruits, Toppat King and Pardoned Pals endings, it is shown he has the Government fight the Toppats in order to stop their plans, and plans to do the same in Toppat 4 Life.
- In the Pardoned Pals ending, he pardons Henry and Ellie as thanks for helping him destroy the Toppats.
- In the Special BROvert Ops ending, he has Henry and Charles stop the Toppats from going to space to become unstoppable, and promotes them after they succeed.
- In the Master Bounty Hunter ending, he managed to get Henry to defeat the Right-Hand Man Reborn and have the government arrest many Toppats, rendering the few that were left left completely useless.
- In the Toppat 4 Life route, it's shown he views the lives of his soldiers more important then the Toppats, ordering everyone to evacuate after realising that they won't be able to beat the Toppats with the chaos that's happened.
- It's likely he launched an off-screen attack against the Toppats in the Free Man, Valiant Hero and Jewel Baron endings, although it's not confirmed and it failed given how the Toppats are in space by the time the routes begin.
- While he does express joy at hearing the Toppat Orbital Station has been destroyed, it's likely he was simply happy that one of the largest crime organizations has been destroyed rather than the people who died as a result.
- It is shown in certain routes that he along with presumably a few other high ranking government officials had been the ones to locate the Toppat Launch Base, meaning it's thanks to him that the main cast were able to take them down.
Trivia[]
- He is the only known Pure Good character in Henry Stickmin.
