Professor Gerald Robotnik is the overarching protagonist of the Sonic the Hedgehog fan-comic Flashback.

He is the grandfather of Dr. Eggman and Maria Robotnik and is a generally banevolent scienist who seeks to better the world as well as to save Maria from dying to the terminal illness that is simply known as Neuro-Immuno Deficiency Syndrome.

What Makes Him Pure Good?[]

Like his original counterpart, he was a respected researcher considered by many as one of the best scientist minds in the world.
He created Shadow, the Ultimate Lifeform, in hopes of curing his granddaughter's terminal illness.
While he did have an initial outburst towards the future version of Shadow and his future friends when he was brought into the future, this is justified since he was confused and was being locked in a room. Plus, this only happened initially.
After being informed of the Black Arms invasion and how he is the only one who could truly stop it, he agreed to help and soon managed to locate the Black Comet. Using an artificial Chaos Emerald, he fired up the Eclipse Canon that would abolish the comet and seemingly defeat Black Doom for good.
He saved Maria from Black Doom after she got kidnapped by the latter in an attempt to make Shadow his pawn.
He attempted to convince Black Doom to stop planning his revenge on humanity, but to no vail.
In order to prevent prevent the timeline from colllapsing after talking with Tails about how the timeline has suspiciously not been horribly corrupted yet, and the fox came to the realization that the reason why is because many of the events had already been set in motion, he went back in time to send out his death message from the original timeline, fixing what could've been a catastrophic situation.
Unlike his original counterpart, he never descended into villainy, and he silently felt remorse for it after learning about the future from Shadow.
