God is the deuteragonist of the films Bruce Almighty and Evan Almighty. He provides guidance to Bruce Nolan and Evan Baxter to teach them important life lessons and shape them into better people.
He was portrayed by Morgan Freeman.
What Makes Him Pure Good?[]
- After receiving constant complaints from Bruce Nolan blaming Him for his lack of happiness, He gives Bruce a chance to do better by granting His powers to him.
- When Bruce is found to be incompetent at playing the role of God, He kindly teaches him a lesson about the difficulties of being able to please everybody, and that "if you want a miracle, be the miracle."
- His lesson to Bruce resonates well with him, as he starts to help strangers without using his powers.
- He teaches Bruce how to pray and revives him after being knocked unconscious by a delivery truck.
- He gives Evan Baxter the guidance and resources to help him in his endeavor to change the world, through motivation in building an ark to save his town from an upcoming flood event.
- Although Evan's life is made difficult, losing his wife and job, God would ensure that the damage done would be reversed after building the ark. He speaks to Evan's wife personally to explain the story of Noah's Ark, which reunites the couple after a fall out.
- He gives Evan a clear date as to when the flood event would most likely occur, and the ark is built on time, saving the lives of his townspeople.
- When the flood occurs, the ark is guided to the Capitol where Congressman Long is held accountable for cost-cutting a dam, leading to its failure and consequently causing the flood to occur.
Trivia[]
