Gromit is one of the two titular main protagonists (alongside Wallace) of the claymation comedy franchise Wallace & Gromit.
What Makes Him Pure Good?[]
In General[]
- Though Gromit is often (understandably) annoyed by Wallace's antics, his loyalty to him never wavers, and he'll always go to great lengths to help Wallace when he's in need.
- Despite being a dog, Gromit possesses a full moral agency as he shows complex emotions many times throughout the series, understands right and wrong as he helps Wallace stop villains many times on his own will, and he shows a high level intelligence many times, proving that Gromit does have moral agency.
A Grand Day Out[]
- He assists Wallace in building his Rocket so he can travel to the moon to get cheese.
The Wrong Trousers/Project Zoo[]
- He, along with Wallace, stop Feathers McGraw from stealing a valuable diamond and stop him from killing many animals after he starts a riot at his prison.
A Close Shave[]
- He saves all the sheep from Preston who wanted to turn them into dog food out of spite.
Curse of the Were-Rabbit[]
- He tries to get Wallace to stop eating cheese all the time for his health.
- He also doesn't like the idea of him changing with technology because he gets a bad impression.
- He and Wallace catch bunnies who try to steal vegetables but never kill them.
- After learning about the love between Wallace and Lady Tottington, he desperately tries to bring them together.
- He tries to warn Wallace that he is the Were-Rabbit.
- After being rescued by Hutch, Gromit decides to help him stop Wallace by sacrificing his Marrow that he has grown for months if it means doing the right thing.
- After Victor Quartermaine shoots at Wallace, Gromit saves his life by flying in front of the golden carrot he shot at Wallace, and when he realizes the angry mob is still after him, he disguises Victor Quatermaine as the Were-Rabbit as karma for everything he's done to them.
A Matter of Meat and Loaf[]
- After realising that Piella is a murderer, he does his hardest to protect Wallace from her, even installing a metal detector so she couldn't sneak any weapons into the house.
- After Gromit realises Piella has given a cake bomb to Wallace, he escapes with Fluffles to stop Wallace from being killed by it and succeeds in saving his life after Piella was eaten by crocodiles.
- After seeing Fluffles is now homeless, he offers her a chance to stay with him and Wallace.
Vengeance Must Fowl[]
- He tried to warn Wallace that the Norbots turned against him (thanks to Feathers McGraw reprogramming them) and were stealing lawn ornaments across the neighborhood.
- He and Wallace restore the Norbots to their original programming.
- He recovered the diamond Feathers tried to steal again by swapping it with a turnip (the same trick Feathers before his arrest, no less).
Trivia[]
- He is one of the four Aardman Animations heroes to be Pure Good, the other three being Ginger, her daughter Molly, and Roddy St. James.
- While he is unambiguously Pure Good, Gromit is occasionally jealous and negative when guests or people spend together with Wallace. However, given that most of them were antagonists and/or his rivals, this could mean he could have told Wallace the truth as if the antagonists were threats to Wallace. This could mean he could lose his PG status if this behaviour manifests into corruption in future movies, but given his lack of dialogue, this is incredibly unlikely.
