Though we may be rivals, or from completely different eras, we must stand together now. Not to prevent the Incineration of Humanity, but to open up a path for our contractor! My True Name is Jeanne d'Arc! In the name of the Lord, I shall become your shield! | „ |

Jeanne d'Arc (ジャンヌ・ダルク, Jan'nu Daruku), also known as her servant class Ruler (ルーラー, Rūrā), is a major character of the Fate series, being a deuteragonist in both Fate/Apocrypha and Orleans Singularity chapter of Fate/Grand Order.
After being executed by her people, she became a Heroic Spirit immortalized by the Throne of Heroes.
She is voiced by Maaya Sakamoto in Japanese (who also voiced Aerith Gainsborough from Final Fantasy VII series), and by Erika Harlacher in English (who also voiced Kyoko Kirigiri and Kaede Akamatsu from Danganronpa series).
What Makes Her Pure Good?[]
In General[]
- Unlike most Heroic Spirits, she did not desire a Holy Grail to make her own selfish wishes.
- She is a very forgiving towards most people, even among the most evil villains such as Jack the Ripper, Gilles de Rais, her evil counterpart Jeanne Alter, and even her own executioner Pierre Cauchon. Although the only exception being Shakespeare for attempting to mentally break her via using his Noble Phantasm.
- Whenever she is summoned as a Ruler class, she makes sure that the Holy Grail War run smoothly and stops the masters and servants if they went against the rules, such as killing people that have no involvement in the war.
- While she is not as admirable as Ritsuka Fujimaru, who restored multiple historic eras and defeated Goetia, the First Beast from the Evil of Humanity, and stopped him from erasing and remaking humanity, the latter has much more recourses as he is a Chaldea Master who can take commands of countless of Heroic Spirits, even Gods/Divine Spirits such as Ishtar and Karna.
- While one could argue that she is lethal due to killing Jack the Ripper, her killing is not remotely close to being brutal as she gave them the mercy kill by exorcising Jack’s lost souls for them to finally rest in peace. Lastly, if Jeanne did not kill Jack any sooner, the latter would have continued serial murdering innocent people, so her killing of Jack is justified.
- While she does have an evil counterpart of Jeanne Alter, she is a completely different entity as the latter was created by her former comrade Gilles de Rais.
Past Life[]
- Despite growing up as a mere villager from the countryside of France, she devoted her life protecting France from the outsiders.
- Even upon being executed, she accepted her death and does not bear any grudges against the people who lead to her demise.
Fate/Apocrypha[]
- Upon being summoned, she possessed a girl's body named Laeticia. However, Jeanne would be the only one receiving physical damage, leaving her host unharmed. Plus, Laeticia openly lets Jeanne used her body, so the latter did not use it forcibly.
- When traveling to where the Greater Holy Grail War is taking place, she sensed a Servant (which later revealed to be Lancer of Red) is approaching to her direction, so she tells her truck driver to drop her off in the middle of the road to get him to safety.
- After Saber of Black (Siegfried) sacrificed his life to save a Homunculus’ life, named Sieg, by transplanting his own heart into the latter. As Siegfried fades away, he asks Jeanne a request to watch over Sieg, which Jeanne honors and happily accepts.
- When the Black Faction demanded her to hand over Sieg, she refused in handing the boy over, stating that he is not a war piece to be messed with, as well as honoring Siegfried's request.
- She took Sieg to a farmhouse in hopes of giving him a normal life.
- She defended herself and saved hundreds of soldiers in the battlefield from Berserker of Red’s (Spartacus) final beam attack.
- Upon arriving at Assassin of Red’s (Semiramis) Hanging Gardens of Babylon, she formed an alliance with a couple of Servants from both Black and Red Factions in defeating Darnic Prestone Yggdmillennia, who had just merged with his vampire Servant Lancer of Black (Vlad III). They prevented him from bringing monsters into the world.
- While she had a controlling tendencies towards Sieg after he left the farmhouse and partaking the Greater Holy Grail War, she has a justified reason for it. Jeanne explains that being in the war will have devastating consequences, something that Jeanne did not want Sieg to suffer.
- Despite that, she never actively stops him and she eventually lets him partake in the Greater Holy Grail War.
- She formed an alliance with the Black Faction after learning that Shirou Amakusa stole the Greater Grail.
- After Caster of Black (Avicebron) had betrayed the Black Faction by throwing his own master Roche Frain Yggdmillennia into his golem called Adam, Jeanne summoned Saber of Red (Mordred) and have Sieg helped in stopping the golem from rampaging.
- She transferred her Command Spells over to Kairi Sisigou and Sieg (one for the former, two for the latter).
- She ultimately killed the Assassin of Black (Jack the Ripper) in order to stop them from killing innocent mages and civilians who had no involvement with the Greater Holy Grail War.
- While she did unintentionally drove Archer of Red (Atlanta) into madness after killing Jack, she did try to reason with Atlanta about Jack, the illusions, and her mercy kill.
- When she met her former comrade Gilles de Rais from Castor of Red's (William Shakespeare) Noble Phantasm, she was horrified after learning the atrocities Gilles had committed after her death.
- She encouraged him to seek true atonement on his own rather than rely on Shirou's false salvation.
- She tries to defeat Shirou by using her Noble Phantasm: La Pucelle. Sadly, she was unsuccessful as she died and only managed to sever one of Shirou’s arms.
- However, she weakened him enough for Sieg to defeat Shirou and ultimately stop his salvation upon humanity.
Fate/Grand Order[]
- In the Orleans Singularity, her homeplace, upon meeting Ritsuka Fujimaru and Mash Kyrielight when she helps defend Vaucouleurs from wyverns. She agrees with them to help restore the era and save France from Jeanne Alter.
- She helped Fujimaru and Mash in defeating her evil counterpart: Jeanne Alter and her former comrade: Gilles de Rais.
- Later in the Final Singularity: Solomon, she was summoned just in time to stop Flauros, a Demon God, from killing Fujimaru.
- Her arrival allows the autonomous summoning of many Heroic Spirits to the Time Temple through their connection with Ritsuka.
- She leads the Servants to clear a path to the Throne and they begin to defend Chaldea and engage the Demon Gods and allow Fujimaru in defeating Goetia (who is planning to remold all of humanity).
