Miss Jennifer "Jenny" Honey is the deuteragonist of Roald Dahl's novel Matilda and its movie adaptation. She is Matilda Wormwood's school teacher and later, legal guardian.
What Makes Her Pure Good?[]
- Unlike her aunt who's a cruel child-hater who actively inflicts the harshest punishments upon her students for the smallest of infractions, she is, instead, a compassionate teacher who cares for her students and takes it upon herself to care for her students and help them have the best school life possible.
- Upon realizing Matilda's great intelligence for her age, she suggested to Ms. Trunchbull that she be put in a higher class, in spite of the principal refusing.
- After Harry told her to "beat it, we're watching TV" when she came to the Wormwoods' house to talk about Matilda, she scolded him for being more concerned about watching television than his own daughter.
- She saved Matilda from the chokey when Ms. Trunchbull threw her into it all for the car her father gave to Ms. Trunchbull malfunctioning due to him rigging the cars he sold with sawdust.
- When she and Matilda snuck into Ms. Trunchbull's house after school and were about to be discovered once the principal returned, she actively protected Matilda during the principal's rampage.
- She grew concerned for both Matilda and her classes safety when Ms. Trunchbull announced that she would be teaching her class for the day right after Matilda revealed that she had stolen Lissy Doll back for her.
- She actively defended Matilda when she was accused of owning the ribbon that Ms. Trunchbull found the previous night by trying to take the fall for Matilda.
- When the Wormwoods tried to take Matilda to move to Guam with them near the end in order to escape the police who were looking for Harry due to his crimes of selling rigged cars, Jennifer told them about how much of a spectacular child Matilda was and how much she loved her, and she later adopted her after Matilda took out some adoption papers she had obtained from the library and convinced her parents to sign them.
- After Trunchbull was kicked out of the school, she took over as principal of Crunchem Hall and was such a great new principal that the school had to add an upper school because the children never wanted to leave.
Trivia[]
- She's the only Pure Good hero in Matilda, and is ironically, the niece of the only Pure Evil villain in Matilda, Agatha Trunchbull.
