“ I'm Kaito Momota, Luminary of the Stars! „
~ Kaito's introductory catchphrase
“ The impossible is possible! All you gotta do is make it so! „
~ Kaito's most famous quote.
“ I'll leave the rest to you guys! End this ridiculous killing game! And Shuichi... Never forget, you're not alone. You have friends. Don't try to do everything by yourself, okay? „
~ Kaito encouraging Shuichi before his death.

Kaito Momota, also titled the Ultimate Astronaut, is one of the two deuteragonists (alongside with Maki Harukawa) in Danganronpa V3: Killing Harmony, the third main video game installment of the Danganronpa franchise. He is a student in Ultimate Academy for Gifted Juveniles and a participant of the Killing School Semester.

He is voiced by Ryƍhei Kimura in the Japanese version of the game, and by Kyle Hebert in the English version of the game, who also voiced Gohan from Dragon Ball.

What Makes Him Pure Good?[]

  • While he may seem arrogant with how he brags about being the hero and the Ultimate Astronaut, this is only a facade to hide his insecurities and he never thinks of himself as better than his friends, he instead encourages Shuichi and all of them to be the best they can.
  • While he initially seems hot-headed and prone to violence, he apologizes whenever he does go too far. Eventually, he loses these corrupting qualities and becomes a better person.
  • When Kaede gave a motivational speech that calms everyone down, he was very impressed to how she grouped everyone.
  • When Kaede apologized for making everyone suffer from going through the tunnel, he told her that she didn't need to apologize and that it wasn't her fault.
  • After everyone left and head back to their dorms, Kaito and Shuichi were the only ones who reassured Kaede that she wasn’t wrong and didn't need to apologize before leaving the tunnel.
  • When the final day occurred at the time limit, he didn't want to kill anyone and instead made a group to fight Monokuma when the time limit is up.
  • In the first trial, when everyone got split into thinking Shuichi was the culprit, he decided to protect Shuichi and refused to believe that he could kill someone.
  • When Shuichi revealed that Kaede was the culprit, he refused to believe that she would kill someone. Then, when Kaede confirmed it, he didn't blame her and still viewed her as a great person.
  • When the Monokubs summoned the exisal for breaking the rule, he, Gonta and Tenko tried to protect Kaede from getting executed by putting their lives on their line.
  • While he did angrily criticize Shuichi and punched him after the trial, it was only to remind him Kaede believed in him and to motivate him to become stronger, as Shuichi did nothing but stay silent the whole time and let Monokuma do whatever he wanted. He also apologized for punching Shuichi the next day.
  • He invited Shuichi to train with him so he could be more confident in himself.
  • He believed in Maki and didn't suspect her for killing Ryoma, despite not having any evidence.
  • He and Shuichi were the only ones who didn't think Maki was lying that she met Ryoma at nighttime.
  • He reassured Shuichi and stated that if he made any mistakes, he would take responsibility, stating that he was responsible for any mistakes that his "sidekick" makes.
  • After Kirumi was convicted as the murderer and everyone thought they deserved to die instead, he told everyone they didn't do the wrong thing and convinced them to value their lives.
  • Despite Kirumi trying to trick everyone into sacrificing themselves for her, he didn't blame her and cheered for her when she tried to escape her execution.
  • He made Maki train with him to help her face her fears and enemies.
  • When Kokichi claimed Tenko's death is meaningless and Himiko broke down for not thanking Tenko, he reassured Himiko and refused to let anyone say Tenko's death didn't matter.
  • When Shuichi gave a motivational speech for Himiko, he was proud of him for motivating her.
  • When he heard Maki's backstory, he reassured both her and Shuichi due to their issues being similar.
  • He motivated both Shuichi and Maki to get stronger and face their enemies.
  • When Gonta gets pinned for murdering Miu, he refused to believe that he would kill someone and made a desperate attempt to protect him. After Gonta got convicted, he and everyone else didn't blame him for his actions.
  • While he acted like a jerk to Shuichi after the 4th trial for uncovering Gonta as the killer, he later got over it and apologized to him.
  • He prepared weapons for everyone to help them escape the school.
  • When Maki was about to kill Kokichi, he protected him by covering him with his left arm from the arrow, refusing to let Maki to be the blackened and get executed.
  • Despite the fact that he killed Kokichi, it was consentual so they could save Maki and try ending the killing game.
  • Before his death, he told everyone not to cry and encouraged them to end the killing game.
  • Even after he died, his legacy still lived on and fulfilled everyone's determination even more than before.
