Weh!
~ King's catchphrase.
I don't want people to see me as a big, scary monster any more.
~ King makes peace with his nature as the last Titan.
Luz: We gotta stick together. We gotta stick together!
King: I’m sorry, not this time. But I can keep you safe.
Luz: No…!
King: Luz, I'm so happy I had you as a big sister.
~ King before sending Luz and her friends to the Human Realm while he stays with the Collector.

King Clawthorne is one of the two deuteragonists (alongside Eda Clawthorne) of the Disney Channel animated series, The Owl House.

He is a juvenile demon who is the roommate, and later adoptive son, of witch outlaw Eda Clawthorne, and the best friend of her human apprentice Luz Noceda. Originally, he thought that he was the "King of Demons" and sought to restore his title and his glory, but he would later discover that he's actually the last living Titan and the son of the one that makes up the Boiling Isles. Such a revelation would result in him abandoning his lust for power.

He is voiced by Alex Hirsch, and by series creator Dana Terrace during his "squeaks of rage".

What Makes Him Pure Good?[]

In General[]

  • While he started out with several corrupting qualities, like being arrogant, power-hungry, mischievous and somewhat lethal, this was because he is a young child who was raised to believe he was the "King of Demons", and after learning the truth about his past, he managed to let go of his ambitions and subvert all of his corrupting qualities by the end of Season 2.
  • Though he used to act like a jerk to Luz, Eda and others around him, he managed to subvert it and became more friendly than before, including letting go of his envy towards others when they got close to Luz, especially accepting her decision of going back to the Human Realm.

Season 1[]

  • He helped Eda save Luz from Adegast.
  • He and Eda stopped the trash slug from destroying the Owl House.
  • He warned Luz not to go out into the rain, then put a bandage on Luz when she got hurt.
  • He tried to keep Luz interested during the rain by offering to teach her about demons and study more about magic.
  • He stopped Luz from running into the Boiling Rain to keep her from getting hurt.
  • He helped Luz find Eda when they thought she was taken by the Snaggleback.
  • When he thought Luz was taken by the Snaggleback, he tried to find her.
  • He helped Luz fight Eda in her Owl Beast form and revert her back to normal by giving her elixir.
  • He helped Eda get a new elixir for her curse.
  • Despite Amity cruelly stepping on his cupcake, he later didn't care about it anymore, becoming good friends with Amity.
  • He saved Eda from the animal control while she was in her owl beast form.
  • He apologized to Luz for how he treated her when they wrote their book, and they then freed all the authors Piniet had trapped in his briefcase.
  • While he did shrink Willow and Gus, this was an accident and he felt remorse for it.
  • He saved Luz, Willow and Gus from Tibbles, before giving the broken pieces of the bracelet he got with Luz to Willow and Gus as an apology gift.
  • He helped Luz break into the Conformatorium to free Eda after Belos sentenced her to petrification.
  • He stopped Eda from killing Lilith, who had redeemed herself and helped save Eda, while Eda was unaware of this.

Season 2[]

  • He helped Luz in several bounty missions to make some money for the sake of making sure the Owl House didn't fall into bankruptcy.
  • He tried to warn Luz that the ship was owned by the Emperor’s Coven, before being caught by the Golden Guard.
  • He stopped Jean-Luc from attacking Luz and Eda in his father's "palace".
  • He helped Luz and Gwendolyn turn Eda and Lilith back to normal when they turned into beasts as a result of the curse.
  • He and Eda stole a piece of Palistrom wood so Luz could carve her own palisman.
  • He saved Luz and Amity from being crushed by a rock, before he and Eda helped them stop a hysterical Hooty.
  • He, Eda and Amity tried to get Titan's Blood on the Knee to help bring Luz home.
  • He convinced Eda to talk to her inner Owl Beast in order to summon him and bring out her harpy self, which proved useful in saving their lives.
  • He translated Luz’s message to Amity help her understand it, helping Amity let go of her fear that Luz might abandon her.
  • He helped Amity fight Hunter when he tried to steal the Portal’s key.
  • He, Eda and Hooty pulled Luz back from In-Between Realm when her makeshift portal was collapsing.
  • He and Hooty created a distraction during the Coven Day Parade so Luz could sneak Kikimora out and Eda could reunite with Raine.
  • He helped Eda and Edric make the Blabber Serum to get information from Warden Wrath, during which he also helped Edric with his self-esteem issues.
  • He told Eda to use the last of the Titan’s blood to return Luz and Hunter back from Belos’ mindscape, openly saying that Luz will never make it home if she doesn't make it out of Belos' mind.
  • He destroyed the portal to prevent the Titan Trappers from catching and killing Luz, Hooty, and him.
  • He told Alador Blight about the Draining Spell, which led to him going against Odalia and destroying his own Abomaton factory.
  • He freed the Collector to make him stop the Draining Spell, which saved the lives of thousands to millions of witches and demons from a slow and painful death.
  • He sent Luz, Amity, Hunter, Willow and Gus through the portal to the Human Realm to keep them safe from the Collector’s rampage, and thanked Luz for being like an older sister to him.

Season 3[]

  • He played with the Collector only because he was forced to and tried to stop him from unintentionally hurting people, while also becoming his moral compass in order to make him change his ways.
  • He brought Hooty back to Lilith to cheer her up, and even tried to have Collector turn him back to normal.
  • When Lilith suggested to imprison the Collector again, King was against the idea, saying that Collector is not actually evil but a misunderstood child, and chose to talk sense into him instead.
  • Despite Collector putting him, Eda and Luz through deadly games that they were barely able to pass, they all showed sympathy to him after learning his backstory, before teaching him about kindness and forgiveness, redeeming him in the process.
  • He shielded the Collector from Belos’ blast after Luz sacrificed her life for him, before he and Eda fought Belos’ monstrous form.
  • While he vengefully attacked Belos, this is understandable as he killed Luz, and he calmed down when she was resurrected.
  • He, Eda and Raine fought Belos’ mold long enough for Luz to rip him off from the Titan’s heart, saving the Boiling Isles from destruction.
    • Although they later killed Belos, who was in a rather defenseless state, it was justified because they all knew he would continue to pose a threat to everything and everyone should he be spared.
  • He and Eda saved Luz from a potentially lethal fall after she no longer had the Titan's powers and returned to her original form.
  • He gave Francois, his favorite toy, to the Collector as a parting gift, gave him a hug, and told him that he hopes they’ll meet again.
  • He and the other Boiling Isles residents threw a quinceañera for Luz as a show of gratitude for saving the Boiling Isles.
  • During the party, he showed Luz his new ability of casting glyphs by himself, thus allowing her to rediscover her glyph magic.

Trivia[]

  • Ironically, King's voice actor Alex Hirsch previously voiced the Pure Evil Bill Cipher in his own series Gravity Falls, with even their voices being almost identical. Even more ironically, Dana Terrace, creator of The Owl House, was previously a storyboard artist in Gravity Falls, and several elements of the show were inspired by Hirsch’s work.
    • To further the irony, during Season 1 it was a popular theory that King was the reincarnation of Bill following his ambiguous death in the Gravity Falls series finale.
  • He and Luz Noceda are currently the only surrogate Pure Good siblings on this wiki.
