Kohaku Tsukishiro is one of the two main characters (alongside Hitomi Tsukishiro) in the 2018 original anime Iroduku: The World of Colors.
Hailing from a long lineage of witches and magicians, Kohaku is the grandmother of Hitomi Tsukishiro, who seeks to resolve her granddaughter's dilemma, after losing her ability to see the world in colours, as well as the people she has known and cherished for. She sends her granddaughter back to the year 2018, 60 years in the present, to meet her past self.
Portrayals[]
- Kohaku's teenage self is voiced by Kaede Hondo in Japanese, who voiced Hana Yurikawa from Mieruko-chan. Her older self is voiced by Sumi Shimamoto.
- In English her teenage self is voiced by Cat Thomas, and her older self is voiced by Wendy Powell.
What Makes her Pure Good?[]
- Kohaku lacks any corrupting factors, as she is optimistic, kind, and loyal towards her friends, who deeply cares towards them. She is also known to be persevering, whom she is determined to cure Hitomi's case of achromatopsia and send her back in time, despite the obvious challenges that await her.
- She sent her granddaughter back in time, 60 years in the past, through the Stardust Clock, and met her past self.
- She reassured and encouraged Hitomi to open up in front of the Art & Photography Club members and reveal that she is from the future, in the year 2078.
- She knew about Hitomi's colour-blindness and spent most of her time in the series to fix her granddaughter's ailment.
- She spends most of her time in the anime's second half to perfect a time spell to send Hitomi back to her own time, after finding out the drastic effects of her stay from Shosei Ichiyanagi, which included a divergence in the timeline and the possibility of getting stuck in 2018 forever.
- She encouraged her friend Asagi Kazeno to not rely on fortune to dictate her future, but to instead believe in her own future.
- She sympathises Hitomi's childhood ordeal, after finding out that her mother abandoned her, due to her being unable to cast magic, the first time that happened in the Tsukishiro family.
- She enlisted the help of the Art & Photography Club members to pick up starsands at the beach, in order to complete the Stardust Clock that would send Hitomi back to her own time.
- Due to her efforts throughout the series, Hitomi's achromatopsia was completely cured, thereby allowing her future granddaughter to see the world in colours, as well as completely changing her personality from being gloomy to optimistic.
- She hugged her future granddaughter for one last time, and told her that she would talk about her ventures, 60 years later, before she left.
