Koichi Haimawari, also known by his hero name The Crawler, is the main protagonist of the manga series, My Hero Academia: Vigilantes, a spin-off of My Hero Academia. As a child, he wished to become a hero like his idol, All Might, but lost his opportunity to take the hero exam when forced to save a child from drowning. Regardless, he still did his best to help the community and worked as a vigilante alongside others he befriended along the way such as Pop Step and Knuckleduster.
What Makes Him Pure Good?[]
- Unlike several people, Koichi only wanted to become a hero in order to save people and help the community like his idol, All Might.
- Even as a child, he would imitate All Might and constantly break up fights, putting himself in danger in order to help people.
- The morning of his hero exam, he chose to stop and save a small child from drowning, giving him his prized All Might hoodie to keep him warm, thus sacrificing his chance of being a hero by making him late for the exam. This child would be revealed as Pop Step, his friend and fellow vigilante who always remembered his kindness and would follow in his footsteps as a vigilante.
- Despite having lost his chance to be an official hero, he still remained hopeful and optimistic and chose to help the community as a vigilante, doing good deeds for the public.
- One night, he helped a stranger who'd gotten into a fight, offering him a hankerchief for his bloody nose. That man was his future mentor, Knuckleduster, who would also be forever grateful for his kindness.
- When Pop Step is harassed by a group of thugs, despite being frightened, Koichi attempts to stand up for her and tries to save her from the thugs.
- Alongside Knuckleduster and Pop Step, he defeats multiple Instant Villains.
- Instead of fighting, he attempts to reason with the Three Sturm und Drang Borhters, trying to find a way for them to appease their desire to steal women's panties and settle things in a peaceful manner.
- He helps Ingenium stop the Bat Villain.
- When seeing Stendhal attempt to murder Soga, despite having been attacked and humiliated by him in the past, he still attempts to save Soga's life.
- He asks Soga whether he's ok and expresses relief that they both managed to make it out alive.
- He saves Makoto from falling to her death in a bus.
- He helps stop multiple Next-Level Villains.
- During the Sky Egg Bombing incident, he saves the life of Captain Celebrity by protecting him from the Bomber's explosive fists.
- When Captain Celebrity falls from exhaustion, Koichi instinctively jumps down to try and save him.
- He helps a little girl who found a cat on the street and gets the cat adopted.
- He makes peace and forgives multiple of the Next-Level Villains he'd fought in the past.
- Continues his services as a vigilante for three years, helping Naruhata by defeating minor villains and patrolling the streets.
- When learning that Kazuho had been taken over by Queen Bee, he doesn't hesitate to try and save her, training several days with Soga in preparation for her next attack and ensuring her safety.
- He saves Kazuho from being burned by Endeavor's tornado of fire.
- He successfully manages to snap Kazuho free from Queen Bee's control and catches her before she falls to her death.
- Protects Kazuho from Number 6's punches and exploding bees, as well as Endeavor's flame attacks.
- After hearing about Number 6's intent to get revenge on him and Kazuho, cooperates with Soga and plans to act as security for Kazuho and protect her from Number 6.
- When multiple pro heroes attempt to capture him, Koichi chooses not to fight and instead tries to run, even telling them that once Kazuho's safety is secured, he'll turn himself over to the police.
- When the city experiences a black-out. Koichi attempts to calm the citizens and take shelter.
- In spite of knowing the heroes were after him and they'd detain them, he still went out of his way to thank them for helping protect Naruhata.
- Koichi protects several civilians from the Anonymous Bomber's self-detonations.
- He saves Soga and Knuckleduster from Number 6 by knocking him off the building and sending him flying outside of the city to protect the citizens.

- Koichi is the only Pure Good of the My Hero Academia: Vigilantes spinoff, alongside All Might.
