What Makes Her Pure Good?[]

  • When her father questioned Lúthien about the man she had fallen in love with, she refused to say anything until Thingol swore an oath not to kill or capture Beren.
  • Although she went against her father's wishes, she did so to save Beren from captivity.
  • Together with Huan, she defeated Sauron.
  • She brought down the walls of Minas Tirith with her magic, freeing the captives, including Beren.
  • She prevented Beren from killing Curufin, although Curufin himself attacked Beren and if Beren had killed him, it would have been self-defense.
  • She healed Beren of the wounds inflicted by Curufin and Celegorm.
  • She continued to aid Beren in his mission, despite his attempts to dissuade her.
  • She put Carcharoth to sleep with magic so that Beren could go to where the Silmaril was kept.
  • When Carcharoth bit off Beren's hand, Lúthien healed Beren again.
  • She managed to bring about Beren's resurrection when he died in battle with Carcharoth. Then she gave up her immortality to remain with Beren.
