Marinette Dupain-Cheng, better known as Ladybug, is one of the titular main protagonists of the 2023 superhero musical film Ladybug & Cat Noir: The Movie. She is an insecure and clumsy girl who often gets into accidents and later stumbles upon the Ladybug Miraculous, becoming Ladybug. She teams up with Cat Noir to defeat Hawk Moth while unaware that she has a crush on Adrien.
Like her original counterpart, she is voiced by Cristina Vee, who also voices Shantae in the game series of the same name, and Compa in Hyperdimension Neptunia.
What Makes Her Pure Good?[]
- She politely refuses to have her father take her to school, knowing that the students would make fun of her, and she takes her mother's advice to believe in herself.
- While she did ruin Chloé's sweater which enrages her into bullying her and outright threatening to kill her until Alya intervenes, it was accidental and she apologizes for it.
- She thanks Alya for saving her from being attacked by Chloé.
- She saves Wang Fu from getting run over by some cars. This selfless act is the reason why Tikki chose her in the first place.
- While she did not like Cat Noir and almost got into a fight with him until Fu stops them, it was understandable since Cat Noir was being arrogant towards her and plus, she warms up to him during the battle against Mime and Magician.
- She saves Cat Noir from getting run over by a train.
- She defeats an akumatized Raymond alongside Cat Noir.
- Despite not wanting to be Ladybug and becoming terrified of Tikki, she later musters up the courage to use the Ladybug Miraculous so she can face Mime and Magician.
- She goes to save a swaddled thing due to thinking that it's a baby only to find out that the Magician assembled a trick on her.
- She saves Chloé from falling off the Ferris Wheel to her death despite the latter having tried to attack her, although she was upset on how Ladybug saved her.
- She saves everyone on the Roller Coaster from crashing to their deaths.
- She alongside Cat Noir saves everyone on the Ferris Wheel and de-akumatizes Mime and Magician.
- She along with Cat Noir faces and defeats a bunch of akumatized villains.
- While she did insult Chloé's hair in a snarky tone, it was justified since she was objecting against the idea of Adrien joining the ball with Marinette.
- She takes sympathy for Cat Noir when he claims his mother died from an unknown cause.
- While she did reject Cat Noir's feelings for her, she didn't know that Cat Noir is Adrien and she didn't do it in a harsh way, plus showing remorse for it.
- She evacuates everyone out of Paris to avoid getting harmed by Hawk Moth's rampage.
- She saves Cat Noir from drowning and being scorched by lava.
- Despite having the Ladybug Miraculous stolen, she still gets up and saves Cat Noir from being killed by Hawk Moth.
- She declares that she and Cat Noir will protect Paris and reverses all the damage Hawk Moth did.
- She reveals to Adrien that she is Ladybug all along.
- While she was clumsy and incompetent throughout the film, she subverts it throughout the film upon becoming Ladybug, and she becomes more confident and competent.
- Unlike her TV series counterpart who possesses stalking tendencies and obsessive feelings towards Adrien, as well as having moments where her overly secretive behavior get the best of her, she lacks these corrupting factors.
