~ Bianca to her late friend, Latios. |
Latios is one of two deuteragonist of the 5th installment of the Pokémon film series Heroes, alongside his sister Latias. He is part of the Eon duo who protected the city of Alto Mare and Soul Dew. When he was a baby, his father sacrificed his life to save the city from the evil Pokémon Trainer and his Fossil Pokémon. He was then raised by Lorenzo, a resident of Alto Mare. Comparing to Latias, Latios is the more serious and mature one of the duo.
While he does not speak, he makes grunt and howl noises. He is voiced by Masashi Ebara in Japanese (who also voiced Might Guy from Naruto series) and by Megumi Hayashibara in English dub (who also voiced Shuichi Saihara from Danganronpa V3: Killing Harmony).
What Makes Him Pure Good?[]
- Just like his father, he is determined in protecting Alto Mare.
- While he was initially hostile towards Ash and Pikachu as he attacked them when they arrived at the Secret Garden, this is understandable since he thought that they were intruders and potential threat to the garden. When his sister and Lorenzo convinced him and Bianca that Ash and Pikachu are not a threat to the Secret Garden and only came to see Latias, Latios immediately apologize to Pikachu by licking him in the cheek.
- He saved Ash from falling after Latias accidently dropped him in the air.
- He attempted to stop Oakley and Annie from stealing the sacred Soul Dew, along with his sister, although they would be overwhelmed by their Pokémon, Ariados and Espeon.
- When he was captured, he tells Latias to fly away to safety to avoid being capture by Team Rocket spies, just like he was.
- He even leaped into the crossfire of the electric net to protect her sister, despite being in pain.
- Upon regaining his consciousness and informed his sister, Ash, and his friends via sight sharing, revealing Oakley's ultimate plan: reviving evil Aerodactyl and Kabutops from the past.
- After being saved by Latias, Ash, and others, he and his sister sensed the tsunami coming to flood Alto Mare after Annie touched the unstable Soul Dew.
- He and Latias flew to stop the tsunami from crashing into their city, with the former sacrificing himself in the process.
- During his last moment, he wished his beloved sister farewell.
- He was then turned into a Soul Dew, curing the water of the city he vow to protect.
- While he was usually taken seriously, he never darkens the tone throughout the movie.
Trivia[]
- He is one of two Pokémon Pure Good to have permanently died, second was Lucario from the 8th film.
