Leonardo Splinterson is one of the titular four main protagonists of the 2003 incarnation of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. He is the eldest brother amongst his other three brothers, such as Raphael, Donatello, and Michelangelo, he is also considered the oldest adoptive son of Splinter, and is the leader of his teammates.

Background[]
- During flashbacks in the episode "Tales of Leo", he saved Donnie from drowning, Raph from being hurt by a huge alligator and Master Splinter from falling to his death, also overcoming his fear of heights as a result of the latter.
- In a flashback to their childhood during the episode in "Fathers and Sons", he, his brothers, Splinter and the Ancient One prevented the Bone Demon from reviving Tengu Shredder.
Season 1[]
- He stops the Purple Dragons from robbing various stores alongside his brothers And leading them into action.
- He protects the Turtles' new lair from mousers.
- He saves April from being hurt by Baxter Stockman's mousers; he also defeated Baxter himself along with his mousers, then shut down his factory for good with April.
- He helps Casey Jones take down the Purple Dragons and defeat their leader, Dragon Face.
- He stops the Foot Clan from attempting to steal the Sword of Tengu.
- He and Raph stop the Purple Dragons from intervening when Donnie and Mikey rescue Casey from a caged boxing ring.
- He helps April get a new job as the new owner of one of the antique stores. He is also only one who doesn't get trouble or break one April's antique.
- He briefly teams up with the Utrom Shredder against Baxter Stockman, and eventually defeats the Shredder by decapitating him.
- He and the other Turtles track down Splinter and attempt to rescue him after when he goes missing.
Season 2[]
- He defeats Traximus, but he spares his life out of honor.
- He defeats the Shredder by using the Sword of Tengu.
- He holds off the Foot Ninjas alongside with Donnie and Splinter, while Raph evacuates a severely wounded Mikey to safety.
- He and the others ally with Traximus to save Donnie from Prime Leader Zanramon's wrath.
- He feels guilty after defeating the Utrom Shredder because it accidentally led to a three-way gang war between the Foot, Purple Dragons and Mob over the Shredder's territory, endangering many innocent people.
- He sets out to protect the civilians of New York City from getting caught in the crossfire, despite Raph and Splinter's protests.
- He saves a group of mobsters who were trapped in a warehouse with a bomb by the Foot.
- He stops Raph from attacking Karai so she could explain the situation.
- He teams up with Karai to stop the aforementioned war.
Season 3[]
- He and his brothers help Traximus overthrow Zanramon to end war between the Federation and Triceratons.
- He saves Leatherhead when he was being hunted down by Mr. Marlin as a trophy.
- He prevents the Foot from using the Tri-base's power to blow up New York City.
- After April tried to protect herself when she beat up Casey, he and his brothers give advice to April on protecting herself with martial arts. Although they refuse to teach her when she asks for lessons, they explain this is because when they previously tried to do so with someone else when they were younger, it didn't go so well, and they didn't want to risk repeating the mistake.
- He slays the Necro Monster and stops its rampage, at least for a while.
- He partners with Karai once more to prevent the Foot from using the anti-gravity generator to blow up the whole capital of Beijing.
- He and the others save Karai when she was captured by Agent Bishop.
- He tries to bring his brothers and Splinter back to safety with the War Staff, after they were separated when Ultimate Drako sent each of them to different dimensions, and helps stop Drako from taking over dimensions.
- He saves Master Splinter from being imprisoned by Bishop.
- He teams up with Miyamoto Usagi and his allies to defeat Lord Hebi and protect Lord Noriyuki from him.
- He (alongside his brothers and Master Splinter) sacrifices himself by destroying the Shredder's ship to prevent him from escaping Earth before the Utroms could even step in.
Season 4[]
- He blames himself for almost getting Master Splinter and others killed during the battle with the Utrom Shredder.
- He and Casey stop the Purple Dragons' spree of stealing hi-tech weaponry, and help to defeat a mutated monster that they accidentally captured.
- He trains Mikey to defeat Kluh, gives him advice on how to do it, and manages to save the Ultimate Ninja from Ammag.
- He helps Raptarr in dealing with the exiled Mephos by opposing his goal to start a civil war and take over Earth.
- He teams up with Nobody and defeats the Turks.
- He prevents the King of Thieves from releasing a soldiery of demons who would've caused havoc in New York City.
- He allows Usagi to practice swordsmanship with him; he explains that he wasn't good enough to stop Shredder from getting Master Splinter and others killed, but luckily Usagi talks to Leo, and he gradually feels sorry for him.
- He teams up with Usagi to defeat an assassin named Kojima, whom Lord Hebi hired to kill them.
- Thanks to the Ancient One, he finally calms down and heals himself from the final battle.
- He returns to New York after learning from the Ancient One that his brothers and Splinter are in grave danger.
- He spares Karai's life when she asks him to finish her off, giving her one more chance to redeem herself.
- He and the others protect one of Bishop's mutants from rampaging and spreading a virus over New York.
- He partners with Renet Tilly to prevent Savanti Romero from planning evolution, as well as erasing every existence there is.
- He and the others capture Donatello when he's mutated into a monster to prevent him from hurting himself or anyone else.
- He and the others manage to find Bishop to ask for help in curing Donatello and retrieving the Heart of Tengu from Karai in exchange for his assistance. Although taking away the talisman ends up allowing the Foot Mystics to resurrect the Tengu Shredder, they were unaware of the consequences.
Season 5[]
- He and the others make friends with the Ninja Tribunal Acolytes after they were chosen by the Ninja Tribunal to be trained along with the Amulet of the Acolytes.
- He and the others team up to retrieve artifacts, and he uses Faraji's mystical sword to save his friends from the Kappas.
- After learning the story of the Tengu Shredder being the original Shredder who was once human and turned into a demon to rule the entire world before being defeated by the Ninja Tribunal, he and his brothers decide to continue training with the Ninja Tribunal to master Chi and retrieve artifacts to prevent anyone from bringing the Tengu Shredder back to life. He and the others try stop the Foot Mystics, but they too strong. However, after Faraji bonded with him, Leo used his mystical sword to create a teleport portal so his brothers, Splinter and the Ancient One could escape the battle with their lives.
- He and Mikey warn the Justice Force about the Tengu Shredder and explain the journey they went on, persuading them to join forces with them. Also, he and Mikey save Nano from being brainwashed by Dr. Stockman and vouch for Nano that he was being misguided and manipulated by bad people, allowing Nano to be able to join the Justice Force and help him.
- He saves Karai from being held hostage by the Tengu Shredder and the Foot Mystics.
- He teams up with Karai and her Foot Clan, the Ninja Tribunal Acolytes, the Justice Force, the Purple Dragons and the Earth Protection Force to take down the Tengu Shredder and his troops of demons once and for all, saving not only New York and also the whole world in the process once more.
- He returns the Mystical Sword to Faraji, knowing he needs his Mystical Sword more than him.
Season 6[]
- He rescues Mikey from being kidnapped by Jammerhead and the Street Phantoms with the help of Raph, Donnie and Splinter.
- He helps Raph defeat Triple Threat.
- He redeems his evil clone, Dark Leo, by healing his injuries after their fight and teaching him morals.
- He manages to reason Baxter Stockman from stealing Bishop's body and cause him to redeem himself.
- He and the others manage to save Cody Jones from getting killed inside his Turtle X mech by teaching him martial arts so he would be able to defend himself in the future, even letting Serling join in for the martial arts lesson.
- He and the others help the leader of the Inuwashi Gunjin to rescue his brothers from Aramzedo, as well as all rare aliens he kept as his collection.
- He saves Earth once more when it was in danger of being hit by an asteroid that was created by the Dark Matter.
Season 7[]
- He turns Splinter back to his normal self by reclaiming his data bits in various parts of Cyberspace.
- He prevents Cyber Shredder's mutants from attempting to destroy New York City.
- He defeats the Cyber Shredder, saving New York as well as the entire world once more.
Turtles Forever[]
- He and his brothers teamed up with their counterparts from other dimensions to help send them back to where they came from and defeat Utrom Shredder to prevent him from destroying Turtle Prime, ending the threat he posed once and for all.

- So far, this is the only incarnation of Leonardo to be Pure Good.
