| “ | I prayed to the Hero-King for a small part of the strength he used to save the world. But I need this subterfuge no longer. I choose to fight as Lucina now. The name that reminds me of the strength in the man and woman who chose it. | „ |
| ~ Lucina finally refering to herself by her true name. |
Princess Lucina, also known by her alias "Marth", is one of the main characters of Nintendo's Fire Emblem franchise.
She is a major character of the Archanea timeline, being the tritagonist of the 2012 tactical video game Fire Emblem Awakening. She later returns as a major character in the 2023 video game Fire Emblem Engage.
She is the daughter of the Exalt of Ylisse, Chrom, who arrived from the future to alter history and stop the awakening of the Fell Dragon Grima, who would destroy the world in the future. Additionally, she is a direct descendant of the Hero King Marth and could be the daughter of a female Robin if the latter marries Chrom, or she could be a possible wife for a male Robin.
In Japanese, she is voiced by Yū Kobayashi. In English, she is voiced by Laura Bailey (who also voice Blaze the Cat in the Sonic the Hedgehog series and Mary Jane Watson in Insomniac's Spider-Man series) and Alexis Tipton.
What Makes Her Pure Good?[]
In General[]
- Although she can be solemn and stoic at times, this is primarily because she feels she has no room to relax as their leader because she is in charge of the heroes of the second generation. Even so, she frequently deviates from her stoic demeanor and seriousness, even to the extent of being a "comically serious" character who appears to take everything very seriously in a humorous way.
- There's also the fact that she's well aware of her stoic stiffness and even asks several of the wackier second-generation heroes to help her deal with it.
- While there are times when Lucina can get angry and a bit too strict at times, especially when it comes to the second generation, she does eventually realize she goes too far and apologizes for her actions, even willing to make up for them.
- Despite the high admirable standards in the Archanea Saga (and Fire Emblem in general), Lucina easily passes them, as she managed to accomplish a ton of admirable deeds (particularly with her time travel to the past to alter future events and warn everyone about Grima), all while having fewer resources than the likes of Marth, Chrom, and Robin.
Fire Emblem Awakening[]
Recollections of a Future Requiem[]
- After her father's death and Grima's destruction of the world, she led a small resistance against Grima and his enormous Risen armies, fighting bravely and valiantly against the powerful Fell Dragon, though their efforts were regrettably in vain because Grima had already destroyed most of the world.
- She informed the twelve heroes of the second generation about the plan to go back in time and said that she would respect anyone who wanted to stay but that she would leave even if it meant going alone. She also mentions that because the Outrealm Gate will open in three days, everyone will have plenty of time to plan their decision.
- When Ylisstol is suddenly attacked by Grima and his Risen forces, she fights back against the undead warriors before Grima arrives.
- She impales Grima with Falchion, wounding him badly enough to force him to retreat.
- She managed to gather all of the second-generation heroes and solemnly informed them that Ylisstol cannot be saved and they must flee.
- When Grima and the Risen begin attacking the temple, Lucina encourages the others to go ahead of her while she protects them.
Main Series[]
- She helped Chrom and the others defeat the monsters and even shielded Lissa from one of the Risen.
- Before leaving, she warns him that the events that occurred are only a foreshadowing of greater dangers to come.
- To gain their trust and prove to them that she comes from the future, she promises to save his life by exposing an assassin in a nearby bush. When the assassin rushes towards Chrom, Lucina kills them.
- She helped protect Emmeryn from the Cult of Grimleal, hoping that her life being spared would stop the future. In addition to helping the Shepherds protect Emmeryn, Lucina assures Chrom that Panne is a reliable ally, leading to the taguel being recruited to the Shepherds.
- She saved Chrom from a Risen attempting to ambush him.
- She then tells the Shepherds about the apocalyptic future she comes from and begs them to assist her in preventing the Fell Dragon from rising again.
- She helped aid the Shepherds in the fight against the Valm Empire.
- When Khan Basilio offers to stall Walhart's army while Chrom and Robin's troops attack Yen'fay, she intervenes to try to stop him because, in her timeline, Basilio died in the same battle, and she wishes to prevent that outcome.
- After figuring out that Robin was the one who killed her father in the future timeline, due to being controlled by Grima, she grudgingly chooses to kill Robin in order to stop this, although she is remorseful of this choice and she does back down when Chrom convinces her to have faith in Robin
- The circumstances are even more dissimilar because, if she is married to a male Robin or is the daughter of a female Robin, she sincerely apologizes to them after realizing she cannot bring herself to kill them.
- She aids the Shepherds in defeating Validar, bringing an end to his schemes.
- She joins the final battle against Grima, aiding her father and Chrom in defeating the Fell Dragon and saving the world.
- During the final battle, when Grima trapped Robin in a void, she was a part of the heroes who encouraged Robin to fight on, helping Robin break free of being imprisoned.
Future Past[]
- Similar to her future counterpart, she has been fighting against Grima to save the world.
- She managed to defeated and seed Grima after performing the Awakening, putting an end to his reign of terror and freeing Robin from the Fell Dragon's control.
- After defeating the Fell Dragon and saving the world, she choose to become Exalt and help rebuild the world, even forming "Chrom's New Shepherds" in honor of her father.
