This article pertains to a Pure Good with more than one version who is Pure Good!

NOTE: This page is only about his mainstream incarnation as his Paper Mario incarnation as well as his other versions are not voted Pure Good, thus only the main incarnation of Luigi's info should be put here.

I'm-a Luigi, number one!
~ Luigi in Mario Kart 64.
Big bro... it's your choice... Luigi... will follow you... We're all here for you, bro. Always.
~ Luigi's subconscious to Mario in Mario & Luigi: Dream Team.

Luigi is the titular deuteragonist of Nintendo's Super Mario Bros. franchise and the titular main protagonist of its spin-off series Luigi's Mansion. He is the younger twin brother of Mario.

He was voiced by Charles Martinet from Mario Kart 64 to Mario + Rabbids: Sparks of Hope and by Kevin Afghani from Super Mario Bros. Wonder onwards, both of whom also voice his brother Mario.

What Makes Him Pure Good?[]

  • Although he is more fearful and not as resolute compared to his brother, he frequently overcomes his fears to help Mario and those in need, showing himself to be extremely brave in spite of his fear, an admirable trait.
  • Luigi loves his older twin brother, Mario, very much and would do anything to help him despite his cautious nature and dislike of danger. He’s even willing to put his entire life on the line to rescue Mario.
  • He shows remorse if he had done something wrong and acknowledges it, like in Mario & Luigi: Partners in Time, where he felt remorse for making his and Mario's baby counterparts cry.
  • He saved Mario, several Toads, Princess Peach and Professor E. Gadd from being trapped in paintings by King Boo in the Luigi's Mansion series.
    • He also stopped King Boo from trying to destroy the universe and brought peace to Evershade Valley by collecting the Dark Moon pieces, which restored the hostile ghosts to normal in Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon.
    • Although initially annoyed by him in Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon, he ultimately adopts Polterpup after he broke free of the King Boo's hypnosis along with the other ghosts. Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon and Luigi's Mansion 3 also show him, in spite of his fear of ghosts, making exceptions to the ghosts of Evershade Valley and the Last Resort Hotel once they become friendly without King Boo's influence.
    • In Luigi's Mansion 3, he once again defeated and captured King Boo, and in doing so, saved the entire Last Resort from being put in a painting due to him growing desperate to defeat him. This also freed the ghosts that he had brainwashed with the power of his crown, and in the aftermath, he and his friends helped them rebuild the hotel.
    • In both Luigi's Mansion and Luigi's Mansion 3, when Professor E. Gadd tells him that it's best if he flees immediately for his safety, Luigi firmly refuses to escape without first finding his brother when he and his friends went missing.
    • In Luigi’s Mansion 3, he felt guilty for capturing Morty after he was nice to him. Capturing him also isn't mandatory, so this can't count as a prevention as it's up to the player if they want to capture Morty.
  • Assisted Mario in saving Princess Peach in several games, including Super Mario World, Super Mario Bros., Super Mario Bros. 3, New Super Mario Bros Wii, New Super Mario Bros. 2, Super Mario 3D Land and New Super Mario Bros. U and the Sprixie Princesses in Super Mario 3D World.
  • Assists Mario by giving him Power Stars in Super Mario Galaxy when Mario rescues him.
  • Saves Wario from Chief Chilly despite Wario being a jerk to him and Mario more often than not.
  • He offers to step in for Mario in Galaxy 2 and help him collect some of the Power Stars he needs when available.
  • Much like Mario, he allows Bowser to help them face more evil threats.
  • He joined Mario, Peach and Blue Toad in rescuing the Sprixie Princesses from Bowser. When he nervously hesitated to follow the others after Bowser got into the Clear Pipe, he quickly steeled himself and jumped in.
  • He isn't shown to be jealous of Mario or even Yoshi, despite constantly being in his brother's shadow and getting less of his own series than the latter. Instead, he often enjoys their company.
    • While he's sometimes envious of Mario's fame and their fame inequality is notoriously unfavorable to him, he doesn't hold any actual animosity towards him and never let his envy consume him, staying loyal to his brother and his friends no matter the circumstances.
  • In the spin-off titles, he:
    • Helped Mario save the world from villains such as Cackletta, Antasma, Princess Shroob, Fawful, Reclusa, and Bowser in the Mario & Luigi series.
    • Helped Mario save the Pi'illo folks in Dream Team. It's also worth pointing out that he played a key role in saving them, and by extension, defeating Bowser and Antasma, as he was the only one capable of opening up dream portals (via sleeping on Pi'ilos'), and by aiding Mario by helping him overcome obstacles in the dream world to rescue them. Saving certain Pi'illos proved vital in their adventure.
    • Tries to cheer up Toadette when her papercrafts were destroyed by Bowser.
    • Cheers up Sorrow Fist when he was depressed, despite the fact that he was his enemy and that he needed to defeat him.
    • Helped save numerous Toads with his brother, Mario, in Paper Jam. He also helped stop both forms of Bowser from trying to destroy the Paperverse book, thereby saving its world.
    • In Mario is Missing!, he stopped Bowser from flooding the world and saved Mario while doing so.
    • He joins Mario and Sonic in saving the Snow Spirits from Bowser and Dr. Eggman and plays a major role in clearing out the Phantasmal Fog for the London Olympic Games.
    • He and Tails work together to save Mario and Sonic when they and Bowser and Dr. Eggman are trapped in Tokyo 64.
  • Even though other characters think low of and sometimes mock him, specifically Bowser although only because of his arrogance, it, along with his occasional clumsiness, never detracts from him being taken seriously as a threat to evil; that, and he never lashes out.
  • Saves the world of Smash from being taken over by Tabuu, Galeem, and Dharkon.
