Marie Mahler is one of the three tritagonists (alongside Saki Mugendo and Nana Tachibana) of Yumeutsutsu Re:Master. She is a Greycirian soldier who came to Japan for cultural exchange. Her country is actually on a civil war. One day she is contacted by Ai Otori who found her drawing amazing in order for her to be the artist of the game NieMajo. She is later engaged and is in charge of the drawing of the game.
What Makes Her Pure Good ?[]
- When she sees a thieve running away after stealing a bag , Marie stops the thieve and returns the bag to it's owner. She also helps Ai to get up after the latter was pushed by the thieve.
- She accepts Ai's offer to be engaged and thanks her for finding her.
- While she does sometimes few moves on Ai like the Kabedon (slapping the wall), she never goes to far and is always respectful to Ai.
- She is supportive of Ai and is happy to help her when she needs it.
- In Nana's good ending, she helps Nana's to get free from her stepmother alongside Ai and the others.
- In the other routes, she will support Ai with her relationship with the girl she loves (which depends on the route).
Kokoro's route[]
- While she does have a moment when she wants to touch Ai due to finding her cute, once Nana's stops her, Marie regains full awareness and apologizes to Ai. Futhermore, before that, she prevented Nana to do worse that what Marie herself did.
- When Kokoro is beating Ai, she and Nana stop Kokoro.
- She participates in making a new ending for NieMajo, allowing both Nie and Majo to return to their world.
- When Ai has difficulty to draw for the sequel of NieMajo, Marie passes the day to help her.
In her route[]
- She loved her adoptive family, particularly her adoptive sister Marie (from which she took the name in the game). It was because of her sister's death that she has accepted the mission in Japan.
- While she knew that somes anti-government members would die during the assault, this does not make her lethal as this is considered the rule of war due to both them and the government being opposate factions. Futhermore :
- Marie's task was not to kill anyone but to protect the civilians from being hurt during the assault.
- While it's not make clear which side is the bad one considering both factions wanted to avoid civil casualties. The anti government group previously killed Marie's parents, caused the death of her adoptive sister and tried to kill her adoptive mother, proving that they were not innocents.
- After her false death, she intended to go back into Grecyria under a false name, but decided to stay in Japan because she loved Ai and wanted to be with her.
- It should also be noted that Ai was ready to commit suicide due to losing Marie, meaning she saved Ai's life in a way. If it was show that Ai did tell her that and Marie was happy that Ai didn't go through, that would make her better.
- When she receives a letter in Grecyrian language telling her to come at the office. She thought that Ai and the others were taken in hostage and came to the office to help. While it's revealed it was in fact a surprise from the team for her, Marie didn't knew at the moment.
Trivia[]
- She is alongside Ai Otori, one of the two Pure Good of Yumeutsutsu Re:Master.
- Originally, both were considered Near Pure Good due to their mischefs being considered as corrupting factors. However after it was decided that these moments were Heating up moments, they both were approved as Pure Good.
