Mary Katherine "M.K." Bomba is the main protagonist of Blue Sky Studios' 8th full-length animated feature film Epic.
She is the fun, kind, adventurous, resourceful, and loyal 17-year-old daughter of the eccentic scientist Professor Randy Bomba, who is studying a group of little people called the Leafmen, whose main duty is to protect the forest kingdom, located in Danbury, Connecticut, U.S. Both of them are struggling to understand each other, even though they still love each other.
When MK's dog, Ozzy, rushes into the woods, she discovers one of the Leafmen and shrinks down to their size. It is up to MK to defend the magical land - and her estranged father - from an army of troll-like, decay-spreading monsters known as the Boggans led by Mandrake. She teams up with Nod, the spirited warrior, the gangster-like toad; Mub and Grub, the hilarious slug and snail, the courageous General Ronin, the wise Queen Tara, and the scroll-keeper Nim Galuu. She is Nod's love interest and soon becomes his girlfriend at the end of the film.
She is voiced by Amanda Seyfried.
What Makes Her Pure Good?[]
- Despite the troubles she has with her father, she is still forgiving towards him, knowing how much important and dear he still is to her.
- While roaming around the forest, trying to find her pet dog Ozzy, she encountered a dying Queen Tara, who gave to her the magical pod that caused her to shrink physically. She was saddened and had initially tried to help the dying queen through medical means, even if it failed.
- She kept her promise to the late Queen Tara about giving the pod to Nim Galuu.
- She supported the Leafmen in protecting the forest from being invaded by the Boggans, led by Mandrake.
- She influenced Nod into becoming much more responsible, leading him to the path of being a more serious Leafman.
- Although she eventually got back to her normal size after fulfilling Queen Tara's request, she is forgiving towards her size reduction during the movie.
- She still kept in touch with the forest's citizens, most notably Nod, even after she got back into her normal size.
Trivia[]
- Considering the studio's short library of films, this makes M.K. is the only Blue Sky Pure Good to be female.
