Mega Man (known as Rockman in the Japanese version) is the titular protagonist of the Mega Man franchise.
He is a house assistant robot but became a fighting robot to stop robot master invasions led by Dr. Wily. He is the creation of Dr. Thomas Light.
In English version, he was voiced by Doug Parker in Captain N: the Game Master, Ian James Corlett in the Ruby-Spear cartoons who also voices Cheetor in Beast Wars, Ruth Shiraishi in 8, Cole Howard in Powered Up, Vincent Tong in Fully Charged, and Benjamin Diskin in 11.
What Makes Him Pure Good?[]
- Dr. Light designed all of his robots with free will in mind, and the same should go for Mega Man, meaning he has complete moral agency.
- In fact, he was originally created as an assistant robot for Dr. Light. After hearing about Dr. Wily's plans for world domination, he chose to volunteer to stop him and be converted by Dr. Light to become a combat robot to do so.
- Constantly stopped the Robot Master invasions and Dr. Wily many times.
- After Dr. Wily stole the six robots from Dr. Light, he offered to become a combat robot in order to be able to stop the robots and Dr. Wily.
- In Mega Man Powered Up he could ask the Robot Masters if they are okay and carry them to be repaired by Dr. Light if he beat them buster-only for the first time.
- Beat the first eight Robot Masters by Dr. Wily and later beat Wily.
- He went to fetch for the elements to make Gamma, originally intended to be a peacekeeping robot.
- He beat the Doc Robots and later Wily when he betrayed Dr. Light and used Gamma to try another robot invasion.
- He tried to carry the collapsing ceiling of Wily's fortress to save Dr. Light.
- After defeating Sunstar he tries to carry him to get repaired by Dr. Light, even if he declines due to being at risk of exploding and wanting to take the Wily Star with him. However, Mega Man's dedication to protect Earth intrigued Sunstar about the possibility of a peaceful world.
- He arrested Dr. Wily after the events of Mega Man 6.
- When Bass appeared hurt in Shade Man's stage, he recommended him to go to Light's lab to get repaired and that he would also be part of the team.
- He backed out of killing Wily despite having enough of his constant attempts to invade the city.
- After beating Yadokargo and seeing Wily escape from the secret island, he found Duo and had Dr. Light fix him.
- He tried to convince Bass not to use Evil Energy in a confrontation against him and after beating him he isn't happy about Bass still trying to defeat him.
- Duo was able to save him from the Evil Energy infection due to his previous heroic acts like saving children and his Justice energy.
- He was saddened about King apparently dying until he confirmed through a letter that he changed and thanked him.
- Proto Man stated in Bass' ending in Mega Man & Bass that Mega Man is the stronger robot since he fights for justice instead of only fighting for being the best robot.
- He tried to clear Dr. Light's name when Dr. Wily framed him for making his robots go rogue.
- When Dr. Wily made him think Dr. Light was there and was ill, he tried to rescue "him" before it was revealed to be a dummy and it knocked him out.
- Shortly before falling unconscious, Mega Man showed sympathy towards the fake Dr. Light robot.
- When Wily got infected during the Roboenza outbreak, he sent him to the hospital so he could recover.
- When Dr. Wily stole some robots while using the Double Gear, he asks Dr. Light to install his prototype of the Double Gear on him so he can be better equipped.
- Despite his bad point being reckless behavior (according to his CD data in Mega Man & Bass), it doesn't have much corruption to him.
Trivia[]
- He and Dr. Light, are the only Mega Man characters to be qualified as Pure Goods.
- People may say that his English version does not qualify because in Mega Man 7, he still wanted to kill Wily even after Wily said that robots shouldn't harm humans according to Asimov's laws. However, in Mega Man 10, he volunteers to cure Wily's disease, so he still subverted this corrupting factor, albeit more slowly than in his Japanese version.
