Princess Melody, also simply known as Melody, is the main protagonist of The Little Mermaid II: Return to the Sea.

She is the 12-year-old daughter of Princess Ariel and Prince Eric, the first and only granddaughter of King Triton and Queen Athena, and the first and only niece of Ariel’s sister and Eric's sisters-in-law, Attina, Alana, Adella, Aquata, Arista, and Andrina.

Melody is similar to her mother and different. As her mother, then a mermaid had dreamed of life on land, Melody, a human with legs, dreams of life in the sea.

Although she's a princess, she isn't an official Disney Princess, unlike Ariel. She is friends with Tip and Dash and Ariel's old friends Scuttle, Sebastian, and Flounder.

She was voiced by Tara Strong who also voiced Batgirl in the DC Animated Universe, Twilight Sparkle in My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic, Twilight Sparkle's equestria girls counterpart in My Little Pony: Equestria Girls, and Talwyn Apogee in Ratchet and Clank: Tools of Destruction and Ratchet and Clank: Quest for Booty.

What Makes Her Pure Good?[]

She is as curious as her mother in her age and as brave as her father is.
She apologizes to Sebastian for accidentally hurting him.
While she quarrels with her mother, it's understandable, as Ariel didn't tell her about her mermaid heritage.
She decides to find someone who can tell her about why her name is on the medallion.
While she did steal the trident from her maternal grandfather King Triton, it's because she was manipulated and deceived by Morgana and she was remorseful when she realized what she had done.
- After being freed from captivity, she fights Morgana and returns the trident to her grandfather, thus preventing Morgana from continuing her misdeeds and allowing Triton to finally defeat Morgana.
When Triton offers her a choice to come with him to live in Atlantis or staying with her parents in her father's kingdom, Melody decides to reunite both her father's and her maternal grandfather's kingdoms, thus giving them a better life.
She forgives her friends for laughing at her when she talked to Sebastian.
While her mother Ariel arguably does more, she has access to more magic objects than Melody, and while Melody once possessed her grandfather Triton's trident (which is the strongest magical artifact), this didn't last long.
- As for her father Prince Eric, he can steer a big ship (based on his opening scene and on how he kills Ursula), while Melody only steers a little boat. Thus, Melody has lower resources than her parents.

Trivia[]

She is one of three The Little Mermaid heroes to be Pure Good, alongside her parents Ariel and Eric. Coincidentally, they all form a family together.
Tara Strong also voices Miss Minutes and Harlequin, both of whom are Pure Evil.
