Merlok the Magician, currently known as Merlok 2.0, is the overarching protagonist of the LEGO Nexo Knights TV series. He is the last known wizard in the kingdom of Knighton and the former member of Wizards' Council. He serves as the Nexo Knights' mentor and assistant in fights.
He was voiced by Brian Drummond.
What Makes Him Pure Good?[]
- He stopped Monstrox from wrecking havoc across the kingdom and locked his Forbidden Powers away inside the Rogul statues.
- He defeated Monstrox again and turned him into the Book of Monsters, trapping his Lava Monsters inside him.
- Though he admits to having been arrogant in the past, believing he could study Monstrox's evil magic instead of destroying it for good, he no longer retains any trace of arrogance in the present.
- He confronted his sister Wanda after she was turned evil by the dark magic, and while he turned her into stone, he was seen grieving over her later, showing that he only did this because he could find no other way to stop her.
- He found his nephew Clay and took him under his wing, also sending him to study at the Knights' Academy.
- He tried to teach Jestro sorcery skills, and even when the boy failed to learn anything, tried to help him find his place by making him the royal jester.
- When the Book of Monsters manipulated Jestro into freeing him and Lava Monsters, he tried to prevent their return by summoning an explosion that ended up destroying his physical form.
- After being discovered by Ava and Robin, he sent the Nexo Knights a Nexo Power, helping them win their first battle against the monsters.
- He would go on to provide Nexo Knights with not just Nexo Powers in every battle, but helpful advice as well:
- He told Clay off for trying to enforce the Knight's Code values on his friends, explaining that they should have accepted them willingly.
- He demonstrated to the knights that even Aaron had a fear by making him believe he would be forced to do nothing for a long time, and said that while everyone had their own fears, they shouldn't be ashamed of them.
- He explained to Robin that while he was already a good fighter, he still had much to learn.
- Although he occasionally loses his temper if someone or something annoys him, it's usually for a good reason, and he always regains his composure and never tries to offend anyone in such moments.
- During the Lava Monsters' assault on Knightonia, he uploaded his most powerful spells into Clay's weapons, allowing him to defeat the villains.
- He persuaded Nexo Knights to secure Rambley's chili recipe before it could fall into the wrong hands.
- He spoke out against Lance and Aaron's dangerous pepper-eating contest since the very start, and eventually interrupted it by taking away the last pepper.
- While he went along with the others' plan of sending Clay on a vacation so that they didn't have to follow his training schedule, he soon realized that it did the team more harm than good and told them to bring Clay back.
- He examined Jestro and ensured the knights that there was no trace of evil left in him.
- He volunteered to be uploaded into the Techcalibur and strike Monstrox's book form with it to destroy him, even when told of the risk that he would die as well.
- He had Clay strike Monstrox with him, destroying the necromancer's body and saving the kingdom for the time being.
- He, Ava and Robin searched for a way to counter Monstrox's evolving magic and found a solution by combining Nexo Powers.
- After Clay started to turn into stone, he agreed that he needed a successor and chose Aaron to lead the team.
- When Clay had finally succumbed to his curse, he promised to his teammates that he would find a way to revive him.
- After Monstrox turned Clay into his minion, he cast a spell on the knight in an attempt to drive the dark magic out of him without destroying him.
- He felt remorse for not revealing the truth about Clay's ancestry to him earlier, which he planned to eventually do anyway, and apologised to his nephew.
- While he agreed to contain Clay after he's become too unstable, he refused to petrify him again.
- During the final battle against Monstrox, Merlok used the ultimate Combo Nexo Power to make the necromancer's body vurnerable and allow himself and the knights to destroy him, saving Knighton from destruction.

- He, Lloyd Garmadon, Master Wu, Zane, P.I.X.A.L., First Spinjitzu Master, Emmet Brickowski, Robin, Batgirl, Robin Underwood and Hudson Harper are the only eleven LEGO Pure Goods so far.
- He, Fletcher Bowman and Robin Underwood are also the only three Nexo Knights Pure Goods.
