Michael Schmidt Afton also known as just Mike Schmidt is the main protagonist of Ex Blue's Five Nights at Freddy's fan film: NIGHT FIVE.
He was portrayed by Justin Woolsey
What Makes Him Pure Good?[]
- Despite killing his brother, it was fully an accident and he felt intense remorse for it, falling into a deep depresion. This accident also motivated him to become a better person in the present
- Even despite being told Evan's death was an accident, he still blames himself and doesn't try to justify his actions, knowing it was wrong.
- After the Bite, he always tries to do the right thing and make up for his past even if it means losing his life to save someone he doesn't even know
- He kept Evan's teddy bear plush throughout the years as a comfort item for himself and a reminder of why he keeps going. At the end of the film, he puts the plush on Evan's grave, having moved on peacefully from his past
- He shows remorse for the Missing Children and states that he wishes he could have done more to help them and prevent their fates
- After being hired as a nightguard at Freddy's he visits William searching for advice and assuring him that he's trying to be better and make up for Evan's death
- After a previous nightguard named Jonathan went missing, he started to search for him, even risking his life by coming back to Freddy's each night
- Despite wanting to make up, he makes finding Jonathan and taking him home his top priority, showing he genuinely cares for his well being and isn't just helping to make himself feel better
- He comforts Jonathan's mother. relating to the pain she's going through and personally promising to bring Jonathan back home safe. he even opens up to her about his past misdeeds with Evan and explains why he wants to help others and be better
- He's shown to be a very honest and caring individual, firmly stating to Nancy that he's just a friend who wants to help
- When Nancy gives him Jonathan's favorite plushie, he takes it as motivation to find him and bring him back alive
- He spends a lot of his time searching for possible clues about Jonathan's whereabouts and trying to give a solution to the many unanswered questions about the animatronics, Jonathan, and Freddy's in general
- After he begind to realize that the animatronics are alive, he's shown to have genuine care for them and wants to actually help them, telling them he just wants to help and not harboring any negative feelings despite the fact they had tried to kill him previously
- He is disgusted and angered by Fazbear Entertainmet's contracts stating that Jonathan and other night guards can't go to nearby hospitals
- He is horrified after discovering his father's actions and how he stuffed the children into the animatronic suits
- He comes back a fifth night to both confront Fazbear Entertainment and set the Missing Children's souls free
- Despite being constantly insulted by pretty much everyone in the film, including his fellow employees and family, he is never once shown taking them negatively and never retaliates, instead acting respectful even towards the people who keep putting him down
- She gave his free pizza to the dayguard despite her animosity towards him
- Even after finding out Jonathan is very possibly dead, he still comes back to Freddy's to figure out what is happening with the animatronics and not giving up on the small chance that Jonathan might be alive
- He rescues Jonathan when he finds him trapped inside a Springlock suit
- He keeps Jonathan safe and protected when the Animatronics start attacking them
- When he was being choked by Fredbear, he accepted his death and muttered a final apology to his brother (not knowing Evan is Fredbear)
- Even after uncovering his father as a twisted murderer, he still refuses to attack him or run away, showing he still has some degree of care for him
- After being threathened by William, he left quickly so he could take Jonathan toa hospital and treat his wounds, saving his life and reuniting him with his mother just like he had promised
- He comes back once more to try to save the Missing Children
- He is genuinely worried when he finds out Henry has destroyed the animatronics and plans to pin the blame on him, showing he did truly want to help the animatronics and didn't see them as mindless machines
- He visits Jonathan to make sure he's okay and gives him back his plushie
- His actions were a key player in bringing down the corrupt Fazbear Entertainment
- After finding out that the souls are now at peace, including Evan, he visits his brother's grave and finally moves on as a much happier man
