Pure Good Wiki
NOTE: This is a composite profile of Minion's appearances across all media he appears in as both versions are Pure Good.

Code... we're the good guys now.
Megamind: Code: I guess we are.
~ Minion, after asking Megamind if they are the new heroes of Metro City.

Minion, known as Ol' Chum or simply Chum in Megamind vs. the Doom Syndicate and Rules!, is one of the two deuteragonists (alongside Roxanne Ritchi) of the Megamind franchise.

He is Megamind's lifelong sidekick who aided him with his villainous goals at first, but after a bigger threat in the form of Tighten starts terrorizing Metro City, he and Megamind decide to take action and stop him, with the two of them becoming the new heroes of Metro City after this.

He is voiced by David Cross in the film. In Megamind vs. the Doom Syndicate, he is voiced by Josh Brener.

What Makes Him Pure Good?[]

2010 Continuity[]

Megamind[]

  • He has undying loyalty to Megamind, always having his back and helping him with his problems anytime it is necessary, and while he does argue with him at times, its only because he cares about him and wants to keep him protected.
  • Even when he was a villain, he was very polite to everyone he interacted with and even though he and Megamind terrorized the city, they never hurt or killed anyone and went out of their way to not inflict any serious damage.
  • While he and Megamind did seemingly blow Metro Man up, the two of them showed clear horror at seeing his supposed skeleton, making it clear they didn't want to kill him, only win against him.
  • Unlike Megamind, Minion knew that creating a new hero would be wrong because he was making things difficult for himself, but after realizing that Hal is not fit for a hero, he wants to defuse him only for Megamind tells him not to because he claims is it's Hal's fate to become a hero. And Minion turns out to be right about Hal "not seeming the hero type" because he turns into a villain later.
  • Despite initially leaving Megamind on his own after he admitted that he doesn't want to be the bad guy anymore, he didn't leave because of that but because Megamind broked his heart by saying that he doesn't need him anymore, plus he later comes back when Roxanne wished for Megamind's help and ultimately embraces being good with him. It's also worth noting that Minion seemed sad when he left Megamind.
  • After seeing Tighten destroy the city on live TV, he shows clear horror at his actions, and shows remorse for seemingly killing Metro Man, knowing that Metro Man could have stopped him if he was still alive.
  • After hearing that Megamind had given up on hope and imprisoned himself, he sneaks into the prison in order to free him so that the two can stop Tighten from destroying the city and save Roxanne's life.
    • While he did tie up the warden in order to do this, this was the only option for Minion as he knew the warden was sworn enemies with both him and Megamind, meaning the plan would be ruined if Minion was imprisoned also.
  • Disguised as Megamind, he distracts Tighten long enough for him to save Roxanne's life and takes her to safety before he is seriously injured by a building that Tighten threw at them.
  • After Tighten had been defeated, he and Megamind use the brainbots in order to fix all the damage that Tighten caused towards the city.
  • Although he hit Bernard with the Forget-Me-Stick in the credit's scene, a bat is made to make people forget their most recent memory, meaning Minion could have just used it on him after Bernard told him that "today was the worst day of his life" so that he would forget having the worst day of his life.

Megamind: The Button of Doom[]

  • When Megamind wants to sell the Spiderbot due to him "being creepy", Minion requests that they keep him since he was emotionally attached to it and shows concern when Megamind hurts his feelings.
  • He activates the death ray in order to destroy the Mega Megamind that he and Megamind had accidentally unleashed on the city, saving the city yet again from another threat along with Megamind.
  • While he does smile at the kids getting punished for their actions, nothing indicates it was done out of sadism, and it could have just been Minion being glad that the kids where getting the punishment that they deserved rightfully for dehydrating their parents and attempting to rule over Metro City.

2024 Continuity[]

Megamind vs. the Doom Syndicate and Megamind Rules![]

  • He changed his name to "Ol' Chum" which means “Old Friend.”, after getting a cease-and-desist from fast food chain Mr. Minion's Meatsicles to avoid paying a fine or arrested for copyright.
  • He helps Megamind stops the Go Fish Gang from robbing an aquarium.
  • He remodeled a rundown-diner into a donut-shop.
  • He assists Megamind in saving Metro City when the Doom Syndicate intended to launch it into space.
  • While he made the cockroach smarter by trying to clean them up from the mess he and Keiko made by tearing open a sack of oats by spraying them with an intelligence spray, that was accidental.
  • He defeats all the sentient cockroaches in the lair together with the help of Megamind and Keiko by vacuuming them up and sending them into space.
  • He helps Megamind expose Machiavillain as the real villain to the city, after he was falsely accused for going back to villainy.
  • Despite doing villainous actions under Machiavillain's control, this only happen because Machiavillain brainwashed everyone, except Megamind and Keiko, into villains, so it doesn’t disqualify his PG status.
  • He helps Keiko and the powerless Doom Syndicate fight off the brainwashed citizens.
