Mumble is the main protagonist of the Warner Bros' 2006 animated film, Happy Feet, and the deuteragonist of its 2011 sequel, Happy Feet Two.
He is an emperor penguin who is unique to his nation that can tap dance but cannot sing. He is Gloria's wife, Erik's father, Ramon and Lovelace's best friend, and Memphis and Norma Jean's son.
He is voiced by Elijah Wood as an adult, who also portrayed Mark Evans in The Good Son, Frodo Baggins in The Lord of the Rings trilogy and 9 in the title film of the same name, And also by E.G. Daily as a child.
What Makes Him Pure Good?[]
Happy Feet[]
- Despite being treated like an outcast due to his appearance and poor singing voice, he doesn't show any bitter resentment towards anyone.
- He remained friendly to the skuas when they were confronting him, plus being convinced over humans' existence.
- While he taunted leopard seals, it was justified because since one tried to eat him and necessary in the sequel because they were the only way to save Brian.
- When being unfairly banished by Noah, he chooses to resolve his exile by revealing what's causing Emperor Land's fish shortage.
- While he did insult Gloria, he wasn't actually being rude to her as he only did it to protect her from the dangerous journey to the Forbidden Shore. which Nestor explicitly says that was the right thing to do.
- He unintendedly gets Lovelace out of his talisman and save from him some Orcas.
- He convinces the humans to help him stop stealing Emperor Land's fish supply despite them not understanding him.
- He forgives his nation for their prejudice against him.
- Through Mumble's actions, the humans stopped harvesting Emperor Land's fish supply and redeemed Noah into tolerating dancing and being a better leader.
Happy Feet Two[]
- While he does act wrathful in the sequel such as bickering with Brian and calling Erik out for nearly getting himself killed, they were understandable since Brian refuses to move out of the way and threatening to eat him and Erik was worshiping Sven rather than him, simply making this just Heating-Up Periods.
- He tried to help Erik join in the dancing and when his son calls him out for dragging him into it, he felt remorse for accidently embarrassing him.
- He set off to find the Erik, Boadicea, and Atticus when they went to Adelie Land.
- He comforts Erik when he was distraught over his humiliation and assures him that he can't run away when things go wrong.
- He lures a leopard seal into indivertibly saving Brian from being trapped in a chasm despite the latter being a jerk to him.
- He saves Erik from jumping off the Doomberg via using a fish as a sled.
- He felt guilty for snapping at Erik for his disobedience.
- Although Gloria told him to do it so she can soothe Erik, He tries to collect a lot of fish for the colony until some skuas attacked them.
- Unlike anyone else when Sven reveals he is a puffin, he feels pity for him when he was jeered away.
- While he and Gloria made fun of Sven, he instantly stops and realized it was wrong when Erik calls him out for it.
- He tried to convince Brian and the elephant seals to help him free Emperor Land from the Doomberg.
- He was proud of Erik when he finally started singing and worshipping him as his hero.
- He helped out in freeing Emperor Land from being trapped by the Doomberg.
- While he acts envious towards Seymour and Sven when Gloria and Erik were with them, he doesn't let that get to him and realizes they were not stealing them from him.
