Mumen Rider is a recurring protagonist in the webcomic, turned manga/anime One Punch Man. He is the #1 C-Ranked superhero and a member to the hero association.

He is voiced by Yuichi Nakamura in the Japanese version of the anime, and by Robbie Daymond in the English version.

What Makes Him Pure Good?[]

  • Even in his youth, Mumen Rider had begun to act like a hero, at one point attempting to stop two delinquents at his school who'd taken people's money.
  • Helps a young boy get his balloon back.
  • Attempts to stop the Paradisers despite knowing about their remarkable strength and nearly dies when fighting them.
  • Fights off Deep Sea King to protect the civilians; while doing so, his words touched their hearts, earning their support for him. If it wasn't for him fighting off the Deep Sea King before Saitama arrived, Genos and the civilians could possibly have been killed.
  • While everyone else regarded Saitama as a fraud after nobly trying to give credit to the other defeated heroes, Mumen Rider appreciates Saitama's actions, having sent him a thank-you card, and when he encountered Saitama, he treated him for dinner.
  • During the invasion of the Dark Matter Thieves, Mumen Rider is one of the heroes who helps save civilians trapped in the ruins.
  • He tries to get Tanktop Master to spare Garou's life and even gets in the way of his punch, showing he is against killing villains unnecessarily.
  • When monsters attack the hospital he is staying at, he protects the other patients and acts as bait to lure the monsters so that Tanktop Master can finish them off.
  • After leaving a thank-you note for the hospital, he goes with Tanktop Master to Z-City to assist in the rescue operations.
  • Despite his weak body and status, he doesn't care about it as he tries to do everything in his own power to save those who are in need of help due to his strong will to do his part to protect them.
  • Although his weakness is often a source of comedy, with some of his defeats being played for laughs, his selflessness and sheer indomitable will to do good is taken seriously by the narrative and he's recognized as one of the most noble and pure-hearted heroes in the series.
  • Lacks the corrupting factors that several other heroes who are arrogant about their ranked status and popularity in the Hero Association possess. He's basically the only hero whose intentions to save others are genuine.

Trivia[]

  • He is a certain homage to the very first Kamen Rider hero, Takeshi Hongo.
  • He is the only One Punch Man hero to be Pure Good.
