Naoto Shirogane is the tritagonist of the 2008 video game Persona 4 (as well as its 2011-2012 anime adaptation), and one of the main protagonists of Persona 4: Arena and Persona 4: Arena Ultimax.
She is a skilled and intelligent private detective teenager, who aided the police in several cases in Inaba. When Inaba was rocked with three murders, she decided to help the Investigation Team to stop them, eventually gaining a Persona just like the rest of them.
She is voiced by Anna Graves in the games (who also voiced Satine Kryze in Star Wars: The Clone Wars), and Mary Elizabeth McGlynn in the Persona 4 Animation.

- After being raised by her uncle after her parents' deaths, she decided to become a detective to help people.
- She helped the Inaba Police several times, solving 24 difficult cases and getting justice for the crimes.
- Despite her feeling upset that the Police still thinks of her as just a kid, she eventually got over the issues and regained her spirit of justice.
Persona 4[]
- Despite her Shadow wanting to become a man and trying to force Naoto, it's only due to her personal insecurities over being underestimated by the Police Force, and she later graciously accepts her Shadow and her inner conflicts.
- After realizing several things are not adding up after Mitsuo Kubo "confessed" to the murders, she decided to take a gamble and baited herself so that the kidnapper would target her.
- This will lead to the Investigation Team getting back on the right track as well as stopping Adachi from getting scot-free.
- She tried to warn everyone that Nanako is potentially the kidnapper's next victim.
- While she suspected Adachi after realizing he should not know about all of Namatame's victims, she was willing to give him benefit of doubt.
- After Adachi incriminated himself, Naoto used the event as proof about Adachi's culpability.
- Helped stop Adachi and then Ameno-sagiri from merging the two worlds, thus saving the planet from getting turned into Shadows.
- Helped the Investigation Team save Marie from killing herself in the Hollow Forest.
- Helped the Investigation Team realize that someone was pulling the strings for Adachi and Namatame, without which Izanami could have escaped justice.
- Despite being the last team member joining the Investigation Team, without her, Namatame wouldn't have been stopped from delusionally kidnapping people to save them, and Adachi would escape justice and possibly would have succeeded in merging both the worlds and turning everyone into Shadows.
